Festival 66 is organized and hosted by the Edwardsville/Glen Carbon Chamber of Commerce and a group of dedicated volunteers. Events and booths are sponsored by Chamber members, local businesses, service organizations and the City of Edwardsville. The Festival recognizes and commemorates Historic Route 66 as it passes through the city, and all those who drove the Route in its heyday. The Festival begins on Friday with entertainment throughout the afternoon and evening, food and beverage vendors will be open for business so nobody has to go hungry or thirsty. Young children will have a larger play area and activities that include educational and hands-on experiences. The play area will open on Friday and re-open on Saturday morning. Collectors of fine art will also find items of interest at Festival 66 in the Fine Art Fair. Shoppers can pick up hand-crafted gifts or browse for 7,newest 8, regional art such as photography, pottery, jewelry and hand painted silk. The art fair, food vendors, historic tours, washers tournament, historic door displays, beverage vendors and children 6,s play area will open for business on Saturday morning. The classic car events will begin on Saturday with the 4th Annual Poker Run. This is a fun and exciting event. Participants will travel to 5 different locations throughout the area. At each location, a playing card will be given. At the 5th and final location, the Festival, the cards will be handed in. The best poker hand wins. Prizes will be awarded.
