There is a short distance to the many North Jutland sights and good possibilities of visiting amber artists and craftsmen and potter ceramists. Within one hours drive there are 10 golf courses with which the hotel has green fee discount agreements. When the railway between Hjoerring and Hoerby opened in 1913. It was natural to place a station in Taars which was one of the large villages on the section. The railway became very important for the village and the number of inhabitants quadrupled in the years up to the 2nd World War. It was also the railway which provided the infrastructure for a hotel. Taars Hotel opened in the same year as the railwayand even though the railway closed down in 1953 the family-owned hotel still exists. And it is doing fine and has kept up with the times. Today Taars is situated in the middle of a beautiful area at the foot of the ridge Jyske AAs. As a powerful expression of the past of the place as a railway station you can see the Norwegian sculptor Marit Benthe Norheims work of art. The wood is called Oesterskov and here in this beautiful area the new Hotel Amerika is situated. Even though Hotel Amerika is a new hotel it is a hotel with a soul. The hotel owner has put a lot of work and shown great care for details in the tasteful furnishing of the hotel. It was crucial to find exactly the right materials and therefore the curtains for example had to be bought as far away as in Italy. Outdoors nature has been so generous to provide beautiful surroundings. You will experience this when visiting the restaurant because from here you can enjoy the view over the wood in its many green nuances. The chef is inspired by the French cuisine and in the cosy and stylish restaurant you can have both a 5- course surprise menu and a 2-course craftsmans menu. In addition it offers of course an a la carte menu both for dinner and lunch as well as the afternoon coffee with home-made cakes. There are 3 magnificent golf courses within a short driving distance and the hotel has new conference premises with room for up to 200 persons. In the Wellness Oasis of the hotel you can choose between different kinds of massage- treatments and aromatic baths for example in connection with a weekend stay. The Gendarm Path is a hiking trail along Flensborg Fjord running past the hotel and there are only a few kilometres to the royal summer residence Graasten Slot where you are allowed to go for a walk in the park when the royal family is not in residence. Benniksgaard Hotel is beautifully situated on the highest point in Rinkenaes at Flensborg Fjord and with Benninksgaard golf course as the nearest neighbour. The name Benniksgaard was known already in 1293 and at that time it was a family farm. The Bennick family owned it for 140 years and for several generations the oldest son whose name was alternately Hans and Peter inherited it. The fifth Peter Bennick died childless in 1749 and the new owners tore down the farm and built a beautiful new farm which is the present Benniksgaard. Today the owner is Mads Friis and all the buildings have undergone a thorough and very tasteful renovation. The rustic style with uncovered beams in the ceiling and bright colours create a light and inviting atmosphere. The old hen house has been turned into a reception and a restaurant. The largest barn is now a wing with 31 rooms. The old main building from 1782 has been turned into 10 large and beautiful rooms and suites. The old granaries and a newly added wing are now a number of functional premises for conferences and parties. The wing which formerly housed the agricultural machines is now the golf club. In the restaurant Pejsestuen the chefs prepare the evening menu using the best and to the widest possible extent ecological ingredients of the season.
