There are pleasant views of the Elsa Valley from the farm which produces wine and olive oil and they have an attractive assortment of animals including ducks, pigeons, doves, chickens and a blackbird which are kept at the owners seperate farmhouse across the lane. r n r nThe barn is divided into just two apartments Galizia (described here) and No 48 Merlino. It has been thoughtfully restored maintaining its interesting architectural features as esemplified by the very large brick and glass windows which allow for the bright and light interiors, and traditional beamed ceilings. r n r nGalizia, on two floors, is comfortably furnished in a pleasant mix of traditional Tuscan and modern styles. On the ground floor there is a kitchen/dining room, bedroom, and shower w/c and a comfortable living area which has arched glass doors opening on to the apartment's covered terrace. Description:This beautiful property is set inside a nature park of over 20 hectares filled with ancient olive, carob and almond trees. Situated around 10 km from the coast, on clear days it is possible to admire the beautiful beaches of Marina di Ragusa from the house. nThis ancient residence dates back to the end of the 1600s. Almost entirely fortified, it was recently renovated and carefully restored respecting the original structure. The bedrooms have been realized inside the ancient stone bailey and adjoining areas, whereas the communal spaces are located in the 200 sq. meter annex. Instead of glass windows, the annex has large transparent plastic curtains that can be opened when it is hot. It does not have air conditioning or central heating. Where necessary it can be heated by a large stove. nOutside, in addition to the various areas with amenities, there is a beautiful solarium as well as a large swimming pool (10 X 12 m), which is surrounded by palm trees and oleander plants. The pool is heated by solar panels and includes a whirlpool. The temperature of the water in the swimming pool is kept between 20 and 28 degrees, depending on the weather. nThe Baroque cities of Scicli, Ragusa Ibla, Modica and Noto are just a short journey away.
