Description:Villa Awang Awang means floating in the space between heaven and earth the perfect description for our villa, perched on the edge of a ravine with breathtaking views of the sacred Petanu river and the lush tropical forests. Like many others, we fell in love with the 'Island of the Gods' and her people and feel very privileged to have been able to lease from the local owners, the land on which to build this peaceful haven. The Location Villa Awang Awang is a 50 minutes drive from the airport and is situated in the cool highlands 5km from Ubud famous for its fine art galleries, restaurants and rich cultural life. The 10 minute drive is through stunning scenery of lush ricefields, mountains and the sacred volcano Gunung Agung towering in the distance. The House The villa is designed by Balinese architect Ir. Ida Bagus Wiadnyana according to ancient traditions with the correct alignments toward the Holy Mountain. Traditional materials are used throughout to harmonize with the environment alang alang thatched roofing, hand made terracotta floor tiles, stone and marble, all crafted by local artists. The house is cooled by fans and natural cross breezes over water gardens. Entry is via the traditional Balinese gate way protected by stone guardians and along a garden path through tranquil lotus and water lily filled fish ponds. Antique Javanese doors open onto the main living area with its soaring alang alang roof and spectacular views from the open terrace. Bedrooms Antique Javanese doors open from the living area to three bedrooms. The main bedroom contains a queen sized bed made from old teak wood and an antique Javanese batik table. A dressing room leads to the marble bathroom and outdoor garden shower. The second bedroom has an antique Javanese queen sized bed while the third contains two single beds. A large terrazzo and marble bathroom with a deep tub, outdoor shower and double vanity is shared between the two rooms. Lower Level Stairs lead down to the open dining area, with views across the lush valley. The dining table is constructed from sections of an antique Javanese house and comfortably seats up to 10. The kitchen has granite bench tops and is well equipped with a refrigerator, oven, gas cook top and modern appliances and utensils. Antique Javanese doors lead to the fourth bedroom which contains a queen sized bed and a marble/terrazzo en suite. Sliding glass doors open onto the terrace. Bottom Level Steps lead down to the sun deck and the infinity edge swimming pool with its stunning backdrop of tropical forest. Furnishings The house contains many unique pieces of antique furniture from Java and Lombok and is decorated with traditional weavings, carvings, statues and antique shadow puppets. There is a television, CD player, VCR, DVD and a small collection of CD'S and books. Night Life World famous music and dance performances, jazz cafes and fine restaurants are just 10 minutes away at the villa we can only offer you the sounds of nature, the cascading river, frogs croaking, crickets chirping and the scent of frangipani and night jasmine. Due to the open plan of the house, you may see the glimmer of a fire fly, hear the call of our beautiful blue and pink spotted Tokay who resides in the roof or receive the occasional visit from a frog. If you are not 'creature friendly' this may not be the place for you. The Village and Staff The villa is part of the village of Melayang and our guests are always warmly welcomed at the many temple ceremonies. Staff can assist you with the sarong and sash required to attend ceremonies. As in all Balinese houses, the Gods have their home within our home. Every morning our local priest presents offerings to the Gods both inside the house and at the various house temples in the garden. All our staff are from Melayang or the adjacent village of Bintang Kuning, (Yellow Star.) They are also accomplished carvers, painters and musicians. Minimum stay: LOW season: 2 nights, HIGH season: 5 nights, PEAK season: 7 nights.

These sections can be rented together or separately, and all combinations work well. nThe Upper Level nGreat lounge and kitchen areas nTree nTops Upper has a great sized lounge, with three comfortable sofas. This nspace is great to relax in after a busy day filled with exploring all nthat Bequia has to offer. There is also a lovely wraparound balcony, nwhere you can enjoy cooling breezes. On the balcony is a simple dining narea, where you can enjoy your meals al fresco. In addition to this, in nthe expansive gardens there is also a second small dining area, nestled nin the foliage. nThe kitchen is a great size, with tiled nsurface tops and plenty of space in which to prepare your meals. There nis a microwave, oven, fridge freezer and a big window that lets in nplenty of sunshine whilst you are cooking. nTwo double bedrooms nBequia nTree Tops Upper has two double bedrooms, and two bathrooms. The master nbedroom has air conditioning, and if preferred, the second bedroom can nbe arranged to have two single beds instead of one double. nA great studio, set in beautiful gardens nThe nstudio has recently been refurbished, and has a nice, open feel to it. nThe rental consists of a front facing double bedroom with separate nbathroom, and there is an open plan living, kitchen and dining area. nThere is also a large, spacious balcony where you can sit and relax nwhilst looking out at the beautiful gardens. These mature gardens ncontain trees including Papaya, Lime, Tangerine, Banana, Golden Apple nand Sugar Apple. nSecond bedroom with additional bathroom nThe nsecond bedroom and bathroom is situated at the side of the house, and nshares the studio's kitchen. One great feature of this bedroom is that nthe bed itself is made of tiled rock, giving the whole room a natural, nunique feel to it. The great thing also about this room is that it nstays nice and cool, making it the perfect space in which to relax and nre charge your batteries ready for the next day of your Bequia nvacation. nPlease note that this property is not nrecommended for small children, as the balcony is high, and the nbalistrades are quite wide apart.
