Only ½ an hour from Bergerac and 1½ hours from Bordeaux. In the heart of an area of rolling orchards and vineyards, the three-bed-roomed cottage, which sleeps six, is part of the 15th century property of Pierrot surrounded by fifteen acres of private parkland. Set near the historic market town of Duras, Pierrot is within an easy drive of the Dordogne valley. The wine chateaux of St. Emilion/Bordeaux and Entre Deux Mers are near-at-hand, as well as the bastides (fortified towns) of the Guyenne, a region that provided the backcloth to the Hundred Years War. This entire valley is so full of vineyards, flowered meadows, cultivated fields, fruit tree plantations deliciously shaded by hedges, watered by springs, crossed by streams, rich in harvests, that their owners seem to have had a vision of paradise. So wrote Sidoine Apollinaire, the Latin poet some 1500 years ago about the valley of the river Dropt. These words could have been written about the area today, so little has changed. It is now as then, a peaceful retreat from the rigours of life. This property is situated on the edge of Regusse approximately 1km from the village. The villa is set off the road in a large plot of land, and has a large overground swimming pool. There is a large sun terrace, with loungers, dining table and chairs. We are located in the Parc Naturel Regional du Verdon in the Var Department, which is situated between the Cote d’Azur and the Vaucluse. All of our properties are within a 10km radius, as we think we can give you a better service if they are close together. Both Aups and Régusse have an altitude of between 500 and 600m, making the climate dry with a pure air. Therefore the area is ideal for people with respiratory problems. The nearest airports, are Nice, Toulon and Marseille, all of which are about 1.5 hours drive, with the closest TGV railway station being Les Arcs at around 50km. A car is essential here, as there are many places to explore and visit, in particular the Gorges du Verdon and the Lac St. Croix, which should not be missed. Aups Has 2200 inhabitants, and is a small market town. There are many facilities in Aups, including a reasonably sized Intermarche, a pharmacy, lots of other shops plus a good twice weekly (Wednesday and Saturday mornings) market selling local produce and other touristy bits. In the winter months, a truffle market is normally held on a Thursday morning. Further still for a more cosmopolitan selection is Draguignan which has several large Carrefour supermarkets and many other stores. Restaurants/Cafes/Bars In Aups there are quite a few restaurants, St Marc, for traditional Provencal food and pizza, and the Provencal Hotel Restaurant are just two located in the town. For grander choices, there is the Calalou in Moissac Bellevue and the Bastide de Tourtour, both within a short drive. Régusse Régusse is approxmately 9km from Aups, and has around 1300 inhabitants. At Faysselle, we have three beautiful holiday homes to rent, set in 12 acres of garden, woodland and meadow in the beautiful countryside of Lot-et-Garonne, South West France. The centre of activity at Faysselle is the pretty 10.5m x 5.5m swimming pool with a mini pool (ideal for toddlers) and waterfall into the main pool. Pool games, snooker, badminton and boules are provided. Also children's swings. The local area has much to offer all the family, with beautiful bastide village and markets to explore, leisure lakes, vineyards and a theme park in Agen, our closest town. Horse-riding, tennis and golf and are all available locally. Local shops, bar and restaurant are three miles away. This gite was converted from a former barn and completed in 2001. It is situated next to the swimming pool - ideal for parents who want to keep an eye on the children swimming. Downstairs is a large, well-equipped kitchen with cooker, washing machine, microwave and large fridge/freezer, and a shower/wc. The large living/dining room has a dining table and chairs, two sofas and two armchairs. A door leads onto the sunny terrace at the end of the house, complete with patio furniture and barbecue. Upstairs are three bedrooms (one double, one twin and one triple). The double room has French windows (protected) with a view towards the charming 11th century church whilst the other two bedrooms have views over the pool. There is also a further bath/shower room/wc. The gite has a selection of family games for inclement weather (well, just in case!) and a dvd player. There is digital tv which will receive, amongst many others, all BBC rv and radio channels. The owners and their three golden retrievers live (discreetly) on site and are available for any information or help you require. Evening meals are also available.
