Walk 10min other way on beach & Queen Elizabeth Park http://www.gw.govt.nz/QEP/ 600 hectares of hiking/walking simply stunning. This is well known talented artist community and every weekend there are either concerts (blues to classical) poetry readings or art openings. Great golf, swimming, tramping (hiking), surfing, shopping and plenty of just sittin doin nothing but look at the water and sky change colour with a glass of wine or cool beer.
