Description:You will find this unique vacation home at the end of a private wooded country lane.This relaxing river house is centrally located only 30 minutes between Jacksonville, St. Augustine and the beaches. It is nestled on a 1 1/2 acre private setting along the St. Johns River. The home is surrounded by large oaks and palm trees's that give it a tropical feel. Peaceful & relaxing, this home has all the elements for the best vacation you could imagine. A 300 ft dock (100m) with an upper level offers sweeping view's of the St. Johns River. Watch manatee's, eagles, herons and spectacular sunsets from this one of a kind vantage point. A resident pair of bald eagles hang out most days on a tall cypress tree. They are a spectacular sight to see. Pods of manatee are usually around the dock until Nov. or Dec. Paddle along the river bank to view nature up close in the 12' canoe. There is a wonderful park just a bit north of us to paddle to. Enjoy the large kitchen and living room with lots of natural light and wonderful garden, pool and river views. There is almost always something in bloom. Orange, lime, lemon and loquat trees offer fresh fruit different times of the year.The private pool (not heated) with seating and jets is perfect in the summer for sipping your evening cocktail while the steaks are on the grill. The pool cabana is convienient for outdoor relaxation with it's own mini fridge, stereo, outdoor bathrooms, ceiling fans and comfortable seating. In the main house a private office area is a plus if you must work while you're here. 3 bedrooms and 2 baths upstairs. The bathrooms are small but have everything you need. A seperate den with a fireplace, living room, large kitchen, dining room/family room, laundry room, screen porch and bathroom are downstairs. Other amenities include a weight machine , treadmill and yoga mats (2) in the garage, a pool table, a 12' canoe with paddles, large yard, a childrens playground and a river overlook complete with adirondack chairs to watch the boats go by. This home is relaxed and casual, not glitz and glam. We are very casual, flip flops are standard. You will feel yourself relax the minute you walk in the door. It's great to watch the spectacular sunsets in the evenings. This is a very nice and safe area and also close to grocery stores, shopping and restaurants. We live in a small cottage next door to the River Cottage. We are on site most days, but not necessarily all day. We may also stay in our little beach cottage when it is not rented. We are very conscious of the privacy of our guests. If you are looking for a low key, relaxing place within easy distance to everything else, this is your place.

Description:The back door to this blissful little hide-away opens up to a beautiful city park in Jacksonville's historic Avondale district. An important perk is that you will not have to track through a stranger's house and share their bathroom and kitchen. This serene one-room studio is completely self-contained behind our main house. It offers full kitchen capabilities, separate bathroom with shower - stocked with plenty of towels and washcloths, comfy full-sized Murphy bed, cozy infrared fireplace, internet access, satellite, 32 HD TV, double reclining love seat, elegant little bistro set, outdoor grill and picnic table, and much more. (To be clear, upfront, we do not cook you breakfast, but we will be glad to stock breakfast food in the studio refrigerator - the kitchen is stocked with everything you need to prepare a meal.) This is one of the most peaceful areas in Jacksonville to take a walk or ride a bike a jogger's dream. A short walk through the area's beautiful neighborhoods will take you to the St. John's river. The Avondale shopping village is only a bike ride away, with its many quaint shops and fabulous restaurants. Our main house is very modest and we are not fancy people, but we are good hosts, and will try to make your stay as pleasant as possible we won't bug you. We are only a 25 minute drive to the beach. There are other amenities available that we can discuss if you book. One small to medium well-behaved dog is welcome, with an added fee, but no cats.
