This building, just back from the water, and overlooking the Puerto Madero Yacht Club, was completed in 2007 and has an Olympic size swimming pool, a gym, a squash court and a sauna, as well as a function room, and a lounge area. The apartment on the 8th floor goes up to the 10th with an internal staircase to the roof garden. Upon entering there is a foyer, with a spacious guest half bath, tiled in natural stone with large mirrors and recessed lighting. All of the the flooring is natural Brazilian oak in a strip pattern, giving a bright feel to complement the open aspect of the room through the glass doors to the large balcony. This is the side of the building overlooking the dock, and there is endless activity on view of sail boats coming and going, and people watching as they stroll along the waterside. The balcony has an electric awning to shade the room, or to make sitting outside more comfortable in the heat of the midday sun. The kitchen, an integral part of the open plan living area, is closest to the foyer. White, Carrera marble counters and hidden appliances give this area a smooth look, the dishwasher, the washer/dryer, the fridge and freezer are all behind dark wood doors. The dishes and glasses are on a stainless steel shelf, and the double size sink and cooker hood and microwave/toaster are also stainless steel. Looking across the marble serving counter with its 2 stools is the dining area – a large rectangular wooden table with 6 chairs. The sitting area is at the end of this long room close to the glass sliding doors onto the balcony – and is dominated by an immense leather upholstered sofa, with a pair of end tables with lamps, 2 matching stools and 2 armchairs around a coffee table, all set on a richly textured rug. This grouping is opposite a Chinese armoire which houses the TV, and WiFi. Another piece of antique Chinese furniture is the long side table which is a feature of the dining area. A collection of historic photos of the docks in the early 20th century hang above the table and the sofa and there is a collection of woodcuts, and pen and ink drawings both interesting and artistic which hang throughout the apartment. On the second floor there are 2 bedrooms, one on either side of the building, the master one facing the docks, and the other one looking towards the courtyard. Each bedroom has a dressing room with beautifully designed closets – hanging space, shelves and drawers, and a sumptuous bathroom with the master having the benefit of a Jacuzzi tub. The master also has a large writing or work desk and a flat screen TV. The light filled room is enhanced with the colors of a natural wool rug hand woven in the north of Argentina. Between the 2 bedrooms is an atrium with decking over tile, more native plants and a spiral staircase to the roof terrace. Here is the third, glorious level of this apartment. Another world, with a small plunge pool surrounded by decking and overlooking the docks is just perfect for cooling off after a day’s sightseeing, and the loungers are just made for resting or tanning.
