Sparkling clean and freshly painted, this spacious three-bedroom, three-bath house has new carpeting throughout and an open floor plan that lends itself to congenial socializing. A large living area -- with a wood-burning fireplace and baby grand piano -- opens up to a deck that looks out to rolling hills and a grassy meadow dotted with cows. A cheerful kitchen is equipped with everything needed to easily entertain 10 or more people in the adjacent dining area. nThe light-filled lower level features glass doors opening up to a fenced back yard. A comfortable family room on this level, with a pull-out sofa bed, provides a separate area for the kids to play games or for TV watching. Restful meadow views are also afforded from the first-floor master bedroom, which has a master bath with separate tub and shower. A third bedroom on the lower level has a king bed and its own bathroom. An additional bedroom and bathroom are on the first floor as well. nThe house is equipped with wi-fi, high-speed internet, unlimited local and long-distance service, 40-inch plasma TV with DVD/VHS and a stereo system. Washer and dryer are on site as is all the equipment you will need for outdoor excursions: beach chairs, umbrellas, a picnic basket and coolers. You can cook out on a gas grill, and firewood is provided for the fireplace as well as for beach fires, which are permitted on nearby Ribera Beach. The garage is not available for cars, but there is off-street parking for two vehicles and plenty more parking on the street. n nIdeal for one or more families or several couples, this is a welcoming place where you can relax and feel at home. When you arrive, you will be greeted with a personal note and a basket with a bottle of sparkling cider and sun-dried tomato pesto torta in the refrigerator and animal crackers for the kids. nFor nature lovers, a 10-minute walk will take you to off-the-beaten-path places never discovered by most tourists, including Ribera Beach and Carmel River Beach, where the Carmel River empties into the ocean. You should know a few things.... 1. We live in the main house full-time, and have 2 dogs. Though our dogs do not go in the guest cottage, if you suffer from severe pet allergies you should know that dogs do roam the yard from time to time, and there might have been a guest pup in the cottage prior to your reservation. Though we do clean the cottage thoroughly between guests, it is certainly likely that allergens could still be present. 2. Additionally, you should know that approximately once per week (usually Thursdays or Fridays) we have our weekly yard service. Sometimes the maintenance is relatively quiet (raking, trimming, etc.) and sometimes the situation is far more noisy (leaf blowers, weed whackers, and the like). Most guests haven't minded, but someone mentioned it recently and we figured going forward, our guests should know what to expect. 3. If you accidentally take the Aquarium Guest Passes with you when you depart, we will expect you to overnight them back to us at your expense so that we can offer the same courtesy to our next guests. 4. For reservations booked after May 2012, we are asking for a 2 night minimum. If you've booked prior to May 2012, we will absolutely honor your reservation for 1 night. On the first floor is the living room with a wood-burning fireplace and gas kindler, a dining area that seats six and opens to the brand new remodeled kitchen. n nThe kitchen is fully equipped with a professional Viking range and top appliances,unique serving pieces and platters for entertaining. There are numerous cookbooks to browse through including the owner who herself has written a cookbook and is filled with great recipes nand stories from her life in Vermont at the Inn at the Round Barn Farm in Waitsfield,Vt. n nOn the first floor there is a guest bedroom called the birdhouse room with a queen-sized bed that has a white picket fence bed frame and two small bird houses on posts. Just seeing this bed invites you to come nestle under the cozy plush comforter with a good novel and cup of tea. n nThe Media room has two large picture windows overlooking the flower-covered deck and fenced-in back yard (pet and child-friendly) There is a 27-inch color TV. With full cable, video/DVD library, high speed wireless internet connection and numerous books.
