Description:The Sugar Shack has several wonderful attributes but the one we think is most significant is its location. Whether you are here to explore the interesting subtleties and delights Big Sur has to offer or you're in Big Sur to just take in the stunning beauty of the coastline this is a great perch from which to do it. Although private the Sugar Shack is not remote -it is a 5 minute drive to Highway 1. A 15 min walk west and your at one of the most dramatic beaches in California. From the Sugar Shack one can choose to explore the natural beauty of this magical place or else indulge in some of the local food or entertainment scenes that are a part of your Big Sur experience. Nepenthe, Ventana, Post's and, Our favorite, Big Sur Bakery, are only 5 minutes by car. Many popular trail-heads are also only minutes away. The Sugar Shack, itself, is nestled at the end of a 50 yard pathway from where the car is parked. It has a rise of about 50 ft so it is only for those who are active (2 minute walk). The cabin itself is 175 square ft with a sunny deck of equal size enjoying nice canyon views. It is decorated a little bit in the 'Island' style (our daughter lives in Hawaii). There is a comfortable pillow-top queen bed with top quality linens, shower, toilet, sink, dresser, closet, DVD player & Cd player. There is a refrigerator, microwave oven, coffee maker & electric tea pot. Also provided is a barbecue, sink & a two burner stove in the outside kitchen on the covered lanai. On the property there is a wonderful garden and orchard which you are welcome to enjoy. In conclusion: the Sugar Shack is an ideal location for those who wish to be in the center of Big Sur, namely, the Big Sur Valley and its surrounds. Although the Sugar Shack is peaceful and quiet it does not have the remote solitude some may desire. Most of our guests are active and enjoy using it as a base to explore the Big Sur Coast and Valley and return to a discreet retreat in which to relax. Some of our guests don't feel compelled to leave the Sugar Shack at all!

Description:The Cottage at Green Gates is a Tidy 1 bed/1bath Tudor guest house situated on our large lot, a five minute walk from Asilomar State Beach. The cottage is offered fully furnished with kitchenette, organic fair trade coffee, selection of teas, and each morning we serve you a light breakfast. (i.e. scrambled eggs or yogurt granola, organic local fruit, homemade bread, etc.) Note: if you have food allergies or dietary limitations of any kind, please let us know in advance, we're happy to accommodate you! You should know a few things.... 1. We live in the main house full-time, and have 2 dogs. Though our dogs do not go in the guest cottage, if you suffer from severe pet allergies you should know that dogs do roam the yard from time to time, and there might have been a guest pup in the cottage prior to your reservation. Though we do clean the cottage thoroughly between guests, it is certainly likely that allergens could still be present. 2. Additionally, you should know that approximately once per week (usually Thursdays or Fridays) we have our weekly yard service. Sometimes the maintenance is relatively quiet (raking, trimming, etc.) and sometimes the situation is far more noisy (leaf blowers, weed whackers, and the like). Most guests haven't minded, but someone mentioned it recently and we figured going forward, our guests should know what to expect. 3. If you accidentally take the Aquarium Guest Passes with you when you depart, we will expect you to overnight them back to us at your expense so that we can offer the same courtesy to our next guests. 4. For reservations booked after May 2012, we are asking for a 2 night minimum. If you've booked prior to May 2012, we will absolutely honor your reservation for 1 night. We *LOVE* hosting Airbnb guests, and whether you opt to stay with us, or elsewhere, I'm confident you'll enjoy your trip to the stunning Monterey Peninsula.

The neighborhood is mostly second home owners and there are virtually no other rentals for blocks, allowing a quiet, serene and extremely tranquil stay..plenty of parking on the street and three parking spaces on property...Entry is at mid level, so only half a flight of stairs is necessary to bring you home. For the golf enthusiasts, the famed Pebble Beach Golf Links is just around the corner. Ralph Lauren linens on the memory foam queen futon sofa allow you to fold up the bed and convert it to a sofa for more space during the day. Nice thick towels and soap, shampoo and conditioner are supplied. Breakfast, $10 per person, and lunch and dinner, $15 per person, allows one to eat organic meals in their private room! Just to name a few. Bella (Tierra Lynn) will set sail for your sunset cruise according to day light savings times, either 4pm to 6pm or summers 5pm to 7pm. Boarding times is 10 minutes before sail. Sunset sails only have a total of six guests so there is plenty of room on deck for all to enjoy and be comfortable. Overnight paid parking is available for 10.00 all night. additional paid parking may be necessary in the morning from 8am til 10am. check out is at 10am. Breakfast will be served around 8:30 am and check out is at 10am. You may bring anything you like on board for your sunset sail and your over night stay, food, beverages, alcohol. There is a heater on board and plenty of clean warm linens aboard to keep you nice and toasty over night. Nothing ever goes overboard as we are in a pristine Monterey Bay . Tons of shopping and restaurants are very close by for your leisure and a walking path that leads to the majority of them with easy access.
