Description:Fully renovated1850s stone cottage in historical harbourside suburb of Balmain. 10 minutes by bus to city centre, or easy stroll to ferries to Circular Quay, Darling Harbour and Cockatoo Island. There are harbourside parks within walking distance, perfect vantage points for New Year's Eve fireworks! Short walk to supermarket, gourmet foodstores, and a huge range of cafes and restaurants on Darling Street. Several historic pubs are close by. The house itself is not on the harbour but in a quiet tree lined cul-de-sac with a communal garden in the centre. The house is open plan, there is a spiral staircase to a spacious attic bedroom,with queen sized bed and ensuite bathroom, plus a sofa bed downstairs which can be screened off with a dividing wall. There is a second bathroom downstairs with a bathtub. There is a large dining and kitchen area, a stove with double oven and built in barbecue and a separate microwave. Bifold doors open onto a lush garden courtyard with established herb patch. At the front of the house is a large living room with cathedral ceiling, LCD TV, open fireplace, WiFi, eclectic DVD collection and a library of books to borrow. Fans for summer and underfloor heating for winter make for a comfortable stay year round. There is no garage but it is generally possible to park right outside the house. There is a stock of basic pantry items for guest use, and a bottle of champagne and fruit bowl provided on arrival. There is a small selection of Australian and New Zealand wines available to purchase on an honour system! The host has lived in the area for twenty five years and can help with suggestions on all kinds of activities and attractions you might like to look out for during your stay. Unfortunately the house is not suitable for children under five as the spiral staircase and some of the antique furniture are just not toddler friendly.
