Description:A centrally located suite of rooms in a private home located on a tree-lined quiet side street just 1 block from downtown Bar Harbor and 2 blocks from the Town Pier. Shopping, restaurants and access to the free Mount Desert Island Shuttle Bus are just around the corner. nThe house itself is a large Bar Harbor type home with high ceilings, extensive woodwork, a nice but small lawn and a cellar. The owners live in the suite most of the summer but rent it out when they move onto their boat. The owner's mature, quiet,adult son has an apartment in the cellar, and a former MIT professor has a small suite on the first floor. Three upstairs bedrooms are rented to mature, quiet,summer employees who live with us for 6 months each summer. All of the residents travel most of the time so they may or may not be there while you are. None will have use of any part of the house except for their rooms. nThe entrance to the suite is private and the others living in the house do not use the kitchen or any other part of the suite. nThe suite (apartment) consists of a large living room with 3 large windows looking out to Federal Street, a large, bright bedroom with queen bed, a private dressing room and full bath. nA second, small sleeping area is on the enclosed back porch and has a twin bed. It has access to the bathroom used by the Master bedroom. nThe kitchen is fairly large, but like the rest of the house, it reminds one of the 1950's. It is equipped with all commonly used small appliances. nThere is a full cellar with laundry facilities. nThe suite is equipped with a large flat panel TV, DVD player and radio, Cable TV and DSL wireless. Small TV in each bedroom, also. nOff street parking is provided. nOur clothes and personal effects will be out of the way. The suite will be professionally cleaned before each rental period. nMy husband will take anyone interested out lobster fishing in Somes Sound in his 5 trap lobster boat (conditions permitting) and you will get to keep the catch if you like.

Description:This stylish and truly lovely apartment is on two floors, the ground and first floor, in an old merchant 's house. The entrance is from a sloping cobbled pedestrian street, famous around the world for its medieval houses, with public parking up a few steps directly opposite. n nThe house is full of period detail, with high ceilings allowing a sense of space and light. The apartment has original French windows in each room and a period fireplace in the sitting room, which is still usable. On arrival in winter, a basket of logs is provided. It is centrally heated. n nThick stone walls keep the apartment cool in summer and it has its own little private courtyard surrounded by high walls. This is a sun-trap in the afternoon and perfect for taking meals in the open air at any time of day. n n n nThe fully fitted and equipped spacious kitchen (which leads directly onto the sunny courtyard through French windows) is next to a dining area for up to six people. n nThis leads into the airy sitting room where there is comfortable seating by the fireplace. Here there is a television with British digital channels, and a DVD and video player. There is a separate CD and radio player. n nAn open spiral staircase climbs from the ground to the first floor. As an alternative, there is the option to use the entrance hall stairs. n nThe spacious and well appointed master bedroom captures the full morning sun and is furnished in the French style.
