Swimming, surfing, sailing, etc. are 15 minutes south at Salmon Creek and Bodega (made famous in the Hitchcock movie 'The Birds '). Excellent hiking trails are only minutes away, as well as canoeing and rafting which can be enjoyed on the Russian River nearby. The magnificent Armstrong Redwood Park is 20 minutes along the river.
