Nautilus, our huge beachfront house in Palm Coast, awaits you with banks of windows, soaring ceilings, the latest electronics, and beds for 16 people. Just yards from a lovely beach, it’s a glimpse of paradise! Indoors and out, Nautilus is extraordinary. Of course, the location is unbeatable, right in front of the cinnamon-colored sands and gorgeous natural dunes filled with native palms. (The sun seems to rise right outside our door!) Nautilus is on the Flagler Beach side of Palm Coast, closer to St. Augustine yet totally away from the tourists and crowds. Here you can beachcomb at dawn in your pajamas without seeing a soul, turn the kids loose to wander on the sands, and enjoy an uncrowded stretch of coastline. And when you come in from the beach, comfort and beauty leads you every step of the way. First there’s our smooth wooden boardwalk, a far cry from the sticker-filled paths many of us remember from childhood trips to the beach. The boardwalk leads to a wide, angled, exquisitely comfortable deck facing the ocean, with chaise lounges and cushioned chairs aplenty for sunbathing, dolphin-spotting, chatting, and dreaming. (On a more practical note, the free WiFi you have at Nautilus works great out here, so you can even bring your electronics and stay connected to the outside world!) Of course the deck is lighted, so plan to dine al fresco here, and to enjoy stargazing in the vast Florida sky. The breeze is balmy and tinged with salt, the sound of the surf is soothing, and the quiet is hypnotic. Ah, why can’t all of life be this serene?! When it’s finally time to come indoors – when you can put it off no longer! – step in through the French doors and immediately wonder why it took you so long to discover this palace. The great room occupies much of the main floor, with soaring ceilings, a 4-sided bay of windows, and an upper row of clerestory windows, all facing the ocean to welcome in the terrific views and soft sunshine. The main area of the great room is filled with ultra-soft couches, a wicker rocker, little tables for games, computers, toys, and puzzles. Lamps and track spotlights illuminate the space softly, creating a homey ambiance that everyone in your group will love. This is a place to kick off your shoes, read the Sunday papers all morning, and build Legos creations on the sunlight-striped hardwood floor. Of course, some folks prefer a little livelier entertainment, which is why the family room is adjacent to the living area, away from the oceanfront space, and equipped with a big HDTV and all the trimmings (cable, DVD player, etc. etc.). Two ultra-comfy easy chairs with ottomans face the entertainment center, along with futons that fold out into beds (just in case the teens need to have a “sleepover” one night in order to watch a marathon of favorite movies). Just beyond the great room, fronted by the 4-sided bay windows, is the dining room, with an expandable table and plenty of chairs. A big sideboard holds all the dishes and flatware you need. The ocean views from our dining table are indescribable! The kitchen is equipped with gleaming new appliances and the full measure of cookware. Sleek hardwoods and spotlighting make working here a pleasure. (We have a similarly well-equipped laundry room, and we provide all linens and towels!) There are 4 bedrooms at Nautilus, plus extra sleeping spaces in the family room, loft, and basement. The master suite offers a king-sized bed, a queen, and a crib, plus balcony access and an en-suite bath with dual vanities. The second bedroom has a queen and a twin with a trundle, while on the third floor, both bedrooms (one with a king, twin, and rollaway, the other with a queen and a double) offer in-room basins. The loft sleeps 4, the basement 2, and the family room 3 more. Plenty of space for the whole gang! Spend your next Florida vacation at Nautilus. There are wonderful views from many rooms in the house, as well as from our big second-story deck and first-story patio. And these aren't glimpses -- they're sweeping panoramic vistas that put on a show every morning at dawn! The second-story deck is one of our favorite places, and we think it will be yours too. Located just off the living room, it offers a tables, safety rail, and outdoor staircase right down to the dunes. There's plenty of space here for sunbathing, reading, bird-watching, or even using your electronics (you have free wireless Internet at White Heron Beach House). Let the murmur of the waves and the smell of the salty sea breeze restore your spirit out here! Just in from the sundeck, the living room is another great place for the whole group to gather. Here you'll find a new HDTV with cable, DVD player, and all the trimmings. Watching a movie here is almost like being in the theatre -- so before you go to bed one night, cue up The Jungle Book and let the kids wake up as early as they like to watch it, while the adults snooze for another couple hours. Isn't vacation wonderful?! The ocean views from the living room are lovely, but the dining room offers even more exciting vistas. Our cozy round table is inset in an alcove ringed with long, sunny windows. One look at the beach outside, and you'll be hard pressed to get anyone to eat any breakfast. Another day of adventures has begun! There are 4 bedrooms at White Heron Beach House, so everyone has a great place to stretch out. There are two bedrooms with king beds The third and fourth bedroom offers 2 queen beds each - so you can sleep up to 4 kids in each bedroom.! You'll love how remote White Heron Beach House feels, even though it's very close to a main road and convenient to both St. Augustine and Palm Coast. A private set of steps leads you down from the dune onto the soft sands, which are perfect for everything from sandcastle-building to sunbathing. Dolphins swim by our beach, and many types of birds are constant visitors. At any time of day, it's simply wonderful here! And at White Heron Beach House, we've tried to anticipate everything you need for your stay. We provide all the linens, pillows, blankets, and towel sets for every bedroom and bathroom, and our washer and dryer are at your disposal. The exterior is very enticing, with a wide patterned driveway, immaculate landscaping, tall slender columns, and in back, a full swimming pool, state-of-the-art gas grill, and seating for 12 for relaxing and even dining. Sliding glass doors lead into the house, and large windows let the sun stream in. But the interior also has many claims to beauty, from arched cathedral ceilings in the great room to a vast formal dining room to 2 master suites, one with a Jacuzzi bath and double walk-in shower. This is a house in which you'll always be discovering new areas you like, from the elegant foyer at the foot of the winding staircase to the high recessed shelves in the living room. What fun -- a place to explore right at home, in addition to all the sightseeing you will do in and around Palm Coast! From the moment you enter our great room, you feel a sense of calm. Perhaps it's the high ceilings, soft primrose-yellow walls, or comfortable plush couches (one of which opens up into a bed for 2, just in case you have visitors who can't bring themselves to leave paradise, either!). Sink right in, turn on the giant HDTV or pop in a movie, and let the kids crash on the rug with their toys and projects or play in the sunshine coming through the sliding glass door. You're here now, and it's time to simply enjoy! Ocean Hammock Serenade is intended for big families and large groups, so you may not be surprised at the size of our kitchen, with a 3-cornered breakfast bar and plenty of stools so your sous-chefs can help you cook and keep you company. But just how well-equipped it is may be a pleasant shock: here you'll find all the cookware, utensils, and dishes you need to serve up a feast! And our large central island, granite countertops, and stainless-steel appliances just seem to make things more pleasant, whether you're preparing the fresh catch of the day or simply dishing up a tasty snack for the group watching the big game on TV. When it's time to dine, you have so many choices! Attached to the kitchen is a lovely breakfast nook with an informal table and very comfortable chairs. But if the gang has already set up their laptops there (you have free wireless Internet here!), opt for the formal dining room. A huge space with plenty of sunshine, it can hold the whole crowd! And if that doesn't suit, it's out to the summer kitchen to sit around the pool! There are 5 bedrooms at Ocean Hammock Serenade, each furnished for comfort. The two upstairs master bedrooms sport king-size beds, and one also includes a fireplace, HDTV, a balcony, and an incredible master bathroom with a sunken jacuzzi tub, a double walk-in shower, and more space and sunlight than you would ever expect. Three more full bathrooms and one half-bath ensure that the master bath is yours alone -- and you will find all the towel sets, linens, blankets, and pillows you need waiting for you, along with TWO laundry rooms to keep everything fresh. Upstairs is another bedroom with 2 bunk beds (4 single beds) that sleeps up to 4. The fourth and fifth bedroom are downstairs (perfect if anyone has accessibility issues), and both contain a queen-sized bed and one has a private bathroom. Beautifully decorated and quite spacious, all of the bedrooms induce that feeling of calm so necessary for a good night's sleep!
