You 'll come home from this Greece vacation villa feeling that you are not just a tourist, but an integral part of the community. n n(20 hectares) nThis lovely villa estate, encompassing 50 enclosed acres, is located on a hill south of the city of Heraklion. Within the property are vineyards, olive trees, fruit trees, aromatic trees, and herbs. Because this estate is a working farm, there are also many animals to be found: ducks, geese, chickens, wild pigeons, horses, cows, goats and boar. The estate includes two separate villas, each with its own swimming pool, of which this villa is one. They are 300 meters away from each other. In addition, there is a separate location within the estate with a swimming pool, where the housekeeper can prepare wonderful meals for guests. The meals can be served in this spot, or at the villas for more privacy. The outdoor area has large terraces with vines and fruit trees with views of the plain, the Zeus Mountain and the sea. The swimming pool is located on the mountain and is surrounded by aromatic trees and herbs. There is outside furniture for eating or just enjoying the view. n nGround Floor: The villa has a traditionally furnished living/dining room with a fireplace and great views of the mountain. The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas cook top, electric stove, dishwasher, refrigerator/freezer, coffee maker, toaster, and all the necessary kitchen utensils. There are three air-conditioned bedrooms: the first room contains a double bed, the second room has a single bed, the third room contains two twin beds. They share one bathroom with sink, toilet, and tub with handheld showerhead. n nThis Greek villa is located in an area called Malades, just south of Heraklion. It is a quiet, secluded area with beautiful views. Nearby there are some tavernas, a gas station, and a small supermarket with a butcher. This is a great location for day trips to many of Crete 's archeological sites, such as the Palace of Knossos, the cities of Heraklion, Agios Nikolaos, Rethymnon and Chania, as well as the beaches on the south side of the island. The airport of Nikos Kazantzakis is 18 km away. Voroi is very close to the archaeological site of Phaistos and the Libyan Sea. All year round you can rent the villa and enjoy the natural settings each season offers. History of the house Villa Voroi is a beautifully renovated 19th century traditional stone house offering all the comforts you need for a very relaxing holiday. The villa was built in 1890 by Siornikoletos a doctor - from Venetian ancestors that had settled in Crete. In fact, the house was characterized a monument by the Ministry of Culture in 2004 as it is a remarkable example of an urban house of the last decade of the 19th century with morphological elements of traditional and neo-classical architecture in its facades, valuable to the study of the architecture in this area. Furthermore the building stands as a reference point to the people of Messara. During the excavations at Phaistos from 1905 – 1913 by the Italian School of Archaeology, the renowned archaeologists F. Halbherr and L. Pernier stayed at the villa. In 2000 the villa was lovingly renovated by its present owner, John Kampourakis, who grew up in this house and has retained the charm of the old house while intergrading all modern comforts that one comes to expect. Villa Voroi is an important architectural two floor stone building with sunny high ceiling rooms which can accommodate up to six people. It is 170m² and has 5 rooms, 3 of which are bedrooms. There are 2 double beds and 2 single beds. A baby cot can be provided free of charge. Additionally, there are toys the the children can play with. Its ground floor has a fully equipped kitchen with cooking stove, oven, fridge, freezer, coffee maker, a toaster and a fire place. There is also a spacious living-dining room, a large bedroom with a fire place and a bathroom. The second floor has two bedrooms with double beds, a bathroom and a balcony. There are two double beds and single beds in the house. The villa comes with central heating, air-conditioning, TV, DVD player, music sound system, telephone and kitchen appliances. The large front yard (400m²) with a traditional outdoor barbecue oven offers peace and tranquility under the trees and its flowers. The back yard is a perfect place for breakfast. The village of Voroi offers a variety of shops like market, bakery, butcher’s, pastry shop, chemist’s and a bookshop while the village square has traditional Greek coffee shops and tavernas where visitors can have Cretan specialties and raki.
