Landscaped with large rocks and featuring underwater stepping-stones and other fun features, it will keep the kids entertained for hours, while you sit in the garden with a cool drink and a good book. At night, turn on the pool lights for a magical display of beauty! Plus, by popular demand, the spa and pool are now heated as of February 2012! Just indoors from the pool area is our open-plan living room and dining area. One entire wall of the living room opens up to the outside, so you can merge the two areas. Featuring hardwood floors, ultra-comfortable sofas, and a TV with VCR and DVD player, the living room is the perfect place to unwind after a long day at the beach or sightseeing in historic St. Augustine, just minutes away. There's room for the whole gang here, especially when the adjacent dining table gets pressed into service for games. And with the kitchen close at hand, it's easy to keep the snacks and drinks coming as the group reconnects over favorite movies, music, or perhaps a rousing game of charades. The kitchen at Southern Comfort is a joy to use, offering stainless-steel appliances, granite countertops, and an island with work-sink that doubles as a breakfast bar. Even if you're planning to eat out for most of your vacation, just popping leftovers into the microwave and filling the coffeemaker each morning are a pleasure in such surroundings! And if you do feel ambitious, the kitchen is fully stocked with all the equipment and dishes you need to make and serve a feast. The living space on the ground floor of Southern Comfort is spacious and beautiful, but it's not the only one in the house! On the top floor of our home is an entire self-contained in-law suite, complete with a kitchenette, dining area, living space with couches and chairs, bedroom, and access to the balcony! This is ideal if two families or groups are traveling together, or if some members of the party want greater privacy. Everyone's under one roof, but some can live completely separately if necessary! There are 5 bedrooms altogether at Southern Comfort, softly carpeted and designed for maximum restful slumber. The master suite contains a luxurious king-size bed, a TV, private access to a balcony, and all the comforts of home amid warm-toned walls. The master bath is a designer's dream, with jack-and-jill sinks, marble fittings, and both a soaking tub and an open-air shower. Go ahead, pamper yourself a little (or a lot!). You're on vacation, in one of the most beautiful places in the world! The other bedrooms each contain 2 twin beds, and a full-sized futon and 2 rollaway beds are available if you need to sleep 12 people. And in addition to the master bath, 3.5 additional bathrooms are on hand, so there is never a waiting line! The design of each is distinctive, right down to the half-bath in earthen tones with a jazzy Mexican-style mosaic! But as beautiful and comfortable as Southern Comfort is, its best merit is its location. From our top balconies you can see the pure blue Atlantic shimmering in the sunlight, and Vilano Beach is just a block away, via our private access path. This is a wide, uncrowded, family-friendly beach, perfect for everything from sunbathing to surfing. And if you can get out early one morning, the sunrise is unforgettable! Southern Comfort is just minutes from historic St. Augustine, and within easy drive of world-class golf, shopping, dining, & sightseeing. On the same level is one of the master suites, boasting a king-size bed and sliding glass doors leading out to a lovely patio with seating and a table for casual dining. The master bath is palatial too, tempting you to linger late in the morning before rejoining the group! The 1st floor also has a 2nd bedroom with a queen bed. The second floor features the formal living room, with a 65 HDTV in the entertainment center with Direct TV and a package of over 500 channels, sink-right-in couches and chairs that encourage you to nap, and a long bank of sun-soaked windows. Just beyond this area are a table and chairs for informal dining, and you may have to turn that space into your computer area -- you have free wireless Internet at Sea Star Palace -- or break out the Monopoly and show no mercy! Next to the living room is the kitchen, a gourmet cook's dream of up-to-the-minute appliances, gadgets, and all the cookware and dishes you could ask for. The breakfast bar, set with stools, encourages helpers to come keep the cook company. And the formal dining room is adjacent, a sun-drenched room with a table set for 8 beneath a modern chandelier. Painted in light blue and white, our Blue Ocean Breeze beach house makes a picture-perfect contrast against the bright blues of the ocean and sky. You’ll be able to spot home from miles down the beach as you search for shells or take a late evening stroll. The open living room stands ready for a large group to adapt it to their specific needs with a brand new 50 inch LCD HDTV. A big comfy sofa includes a recliner feature to put your feet up. This huge brand new couch even includes a queen sofa sleeper. The room’s prime feature is two sets of sliding doors with perfect ocean views. Left open, the doors allow the living room to naturally extend into the elevated beachfront deck. There, sun loungers and 2 dining table await great parties. A ladder access transports guests to a large loft that sleeps up to three - sure to be a hit with kids or young adults. A ceiling fans cools both areas. A separate first floor living room accessible by an internal and external staircase provides privacy and a space for down time, where a sofa and beached themed coffee table set the scene for a multi-purpose space. This is a house in which you'll always be discovering new areas you like, from the elegant foyer at the foot of the winding staircase to the high recessed shelves in the living room. Tucked on a sleepy cul de saq next to the Atlantic Ocean, The Lodge and its older sister The Hut are elegant and understated reminders of a far-away time. An area known as Summer Haven was recommended to stressed Pennsylvania banking baron, Thomas Mellon, for its restorative powers. Construction on first The Hut and then The Lodge began in the 1880s, at a time when Chester Arthur was president and Mark Twain was busy finishing his Adventures of Huck Finn. This is seriously good quality time, where simple, beautiful touches - candle light and ocean breezes - complete the setting. A house with this much history begs for a multi-generational vacation where the stories come out - as family folklore enjoys another airing. Take the time on this holiday to hear the stories you’d never otherwise have chance to hear. Reconnect with grown cousins or childhood friends - covering more ground than you ever would in a hasty holiday card. For modern conveniences, enjoy phones and cable TV. If you’d rather do without, they can stay easily tucked out of sight. Past guests love the inclusive aspect their vacations can take, thanks to the home’s single-story plan. Older relatives who struggle with mobility will enjoy a property that has everything to hand. The ocean, just 100 feet away, can be seen, heard - and tasted- from within The Lodge itself. Note: Summer Haven is constantly changing with nature. The Summer Haven river behind the house is largely a sand dune and can many times provide beach access. Due to Tropical Storm Faye erosion at the front, there is now an area of large boulders blocking the beach access points. Although you can walk in between these boulders to access the beach like the locals that live nearby, the nearest easy beach access is approximately 1 mile north at Fort Matanzas National Park. It has (free) paved parking and provides beach access via a meandering boardwalk.

With 2 complete living spaces under one roof, it's the perfect place for a family reunion, multi-generational group, or good friends traveling together. Built on 2 lots, Beach Haven is truly private, with plenty of yard space on 3 sides and nothing but the undergrowth, dunes, and sand on the fourth! Boasting ground-floor patios and 2nd storey wraparound decks, our home is ideal for folks who like plenty of separate spaces to talk, play, and enjoy the unique beauty of Palm Coast. There's even a loft hideaway with 2 single beds, just waiting to become the kids' clubhouse! Each of the 2 floors in this house contains a kitchen and living area plus 3 bedrooms, so it's easy to divide the space into separate quarters if desired. The main kitchen is on the second floor, which also offers the best ocean views. But there is space for everyone and views aplenty in our homey wood-paneled house! The second-story main deck will amaze you, meandering around corners and offering lovely views in 3 directions. (There is also a private balcony from the master bedroom!) This is likely to be the place you'll remember most about Beach Haven, with its casual dining and seating and spectacular vistas. Hear the waves crash and the seabirds call, and inhale that refreshing sea breeze! If you make it out to the deck early enough, you'll even have front-row seating for the sunrise, which is an unforgettable sight. Going indoors from the main deck, you enter the living room, a high-ceilinged marvel of a space with a giant brand-new HDTV, comfortably cushioned rattan furniture, and plenty of floor space for those late-night karaoke performances and raucous charades! The ocean views from this room are incredible through the double set of sliding glass doors! You'll never want to stir from the living room, but the troops must be fed, and our kitchen makes it bearable with ocean views above the sink! The tile floor feels good on hot beach feet too, and the blond cabinetry and white appliances lighten the room still further. Prowl around the cupboards and you'll find enough cookware, utensils, dishes, and gadgets to prepare and serve just about anything -- we've got everything you need down to the last corkscrew and water glass! Of course, if you're on a strict restaurant and take-out diet this vacation, the microwave is great at re-heating! The dining room on the second floor has a big table and plenty of chairs, but unless it's raining outdoors, you may find it deserted in favor of the deck. Instead, it's often turned into a computer and game center, with teens updating their Facebook status (The sand here is the color of cinnamon!), parents checking the opening times of the next sightseeing attraction on their laptop (you have free wireless Internet at Beach Haven), and little ones coloring or lining up the shells they've collected on the beach. This area also contains the stairs up to the loft (bedroom #7). The second-story master bedroom is a delight, with an ultra-comfy king-sized bed, TV, en suite bathroom, and view of the ocean through a huge picture window. One of the 4 full bathrooms in our house is attached to this room, meaning you have no reason to leave the suite until you absolutely must go down to the beach! The second floor contains another bedroom with a king-sized bed, this one with a private ocean balcony. The third bedroom contains a snug queen-sized bed & the 2nd floor living room includes a queen sofa sleeper. The 3rd floor loft counts a bedroom #7 with 2 single beds. The 1st floor is impressive as well, with a sizeable kitchenette, a family room containing a new HDTV & a queen-sized sleeper sofa, 2 bedrooms (one with a king & queen & a private patio with ocean view, the other with a queen & a single!), and 1 bedroom with a double bed. Beds for 20 altogether at Beach Haven, & 2 bathrooms on each floor! Our wide, almost deserted beach is your personal paradise.
