Description:Lovely meadowy location on 20 acres, 7 miles outside of WIllits, CA. One room but spacious cottage, has kitchen, deck, shower, double bed. Near 2 bedrm main house, but not right next door. There is a lovely pond a few steps away for swimming in summer, and visited by otters in the spring. The cottage is shaded by live oaks, madrone, fir trees...no redwoods though, in case you're wondering. There is sometimes a little snow in winter. Mendocino County has vineyards, redwoods, beach at Fort Bragg, music festivals, Orr Hot Springs....

Description:Abalone Cottage is perched on 25-acres of Greenwood Ridge, in Mendocino County. This hexagonal, hand-crafted cottage offers rustic-charm and sweeping vistas of the forest and distant ocean views. The main level houses the large sleeping area with Queen bed (comfy feather bed mattress topper and down comforters), wood burning stove, sofa, toilet/sink, ipod/phone dock/radio, and expansive views from three large windows. Your private downstairs (exterior access) includes a large tiled shower and bathroom sink, and a complete kitchen with full-size refrigerator, gas stove, microwave, coffee maker, blender, dishes, table and chairs. Views from the kitchen/dining area. The entrance to the owner's home is 50' from the cottage entrance, but your total privacy is assured. Enjoy the large redwood deck with views (see photos) garden and koi pond surround the deck, which is the perfect spot to enjoy your favorite beverage and the often amazing sunsets, or sip your coffee in the morning with the birds and other forest life. For your morning we provide coffee and tea, and a simple starter of bagels and a source of accompaniments to get you started. This special property is 10 minutes from Elk and the Pacific Ocean, 30 minutes from Boonville and the many wineries of the up and coming Anderson Valley, and 40 minutes from the famed village of Mendocino. Although only 2.5 hours from SF, the cottage offers a soothing respite amid the vastness of nature. If you're in need of a real break, and enjoy - night skies teeming with stars, wind rustling in the trees, rain on the roof while you're sleeping - Abalone Cottage might be the place for you. Note that the cottage has access to wireless internet in case you can't bring yourself to totally dis-connect, but there's no television and cell phone reception is generally inconsistent and carrier dependent. Description:Sweet, sunny studio with kitchen plus deck overlooking wooded forest. Easily sleeps 3-4 people there is one queen bed and two twin beds (trundle). It is very private, with plenty of parking. The studio is spacious (800 sq ft), and detached, so very quiet. There is a full kitchen--great for cooking (you bring food, we supply the coffee!). The studio is on the second floor (but no one resides below, there is an unused garage), so you need to go up a flight of stairs. You are a two minute walk from the redwoods of Jackson State Forest, and a 2 mile drive from the Mendocino Coast beaches and the gorgeous botanical gardens. Enjoy wine-tasting, surfing, kayaking, or hiking at any time of year, or check in advance to find out which of the many festivals are happening before you visit (crab, mushroom, whale, film and music festivals, local history days, paul bunyan days, etc). Well-behaved pets are ok, but should be on leash when not in the house. No smoking inside. We are about 8 minutes away from Fort Bragg, and are about 15 minutes from the village of Mendocino. We're about a 3.5 hour drive from San Francisco or Oakland airports. Santa Rosa also has a small airport (Alaska/Horizon main carrier). We are 2.5 hours from Santa Rosa. We are gay-friendly, tourist-friendly, family-friendly! Please let me know in advance if you have any special needs or requests to make your stay enjoyable. Check in is 2pm, checkout is Noon, but let me know if you need a later departure or earlier arrival, and if I can accommodate you I will. We have a 2-night minimum policy, but you are free to request single nights during the winter or on weekdays and I will generally be able to accommodate you. One note: most cell phones work from the house, but AT&T service is less reliable. You are welcome to use the phone at my house for important calls if yours doesn't work. Update: internet is now reliable!

Description:Are you looking for a perfect place for a honeymoon or perhaps just a weekend getaway? This charming cabin in the Redwoods is perfect for a private or romantic retreat. The rustic cabin has a country elegance, indoor shower and full bathroom. The kitchen is supplied with everything you need to make a lovely meal all you need is the food. Basics such as tea, coffee and condiments are supplied including a few specialty food items. There is a DVD/TV, CD player, DSL in another building, lots of books, movies and games, private deck, BBQ, bad mitten court, and a pond complete with a canoe. There is a big vegetable/flower garden filled with vegetables that you can pick. The land is perfectly balanced with open meadows and fir and Redwood trees. A large Valley Oak resides just off the back deck. The cabin is 20 minutes to pristine beaches and fine dining, 25 minute to wine tasting in Anderson Valley and 25 minutes to Orr Hot Spring. SPRING SPECIAL: GET ONE FREE DAY PASS TO ORR HOT SPRINGS WHEN BOOKING THREE NIGHTS OR MORE. The rate is $75 per night with a 2 night minimum or $500 for one week. There is a $50 cleaning fee which will be waived when booking three nights or more.. The sleeping loft is accessed by a pull down ladder and the bed has a memory foam topper that our guests comment is very relaxing and comfortable. All linens are supplied including robes, Egyptian cotton sheets and beautiful towels. En Suite massage is available by appointment. A small grocery store, gas pump and post office are 1/2 mile east.
