Description:Within seconds of waking, you can step from the apartment and into a blissful, safe sea, in the midst of magnificence and majesty, for you are in the heart of the earliest settlement of Malta, which became the first Maltese city of the Knights of St. John, and later the British Naval HQ for the Mediterranean for 150 years. A stroll of five to seven minutes takes you into the historic city of Vittoriosa (Birgu), where there are local provisions shops, and a bakery which is a living museum of a kind. A similar stroll along the marina waterfront delivers you to a parade of wonderful restaurants open for both lunch and dinner. Diving is a possibility and can be arranged with local diving teachers. Local boats can transport you to Sliema and to Valletta, or alternatively the buses are close by. Moreover, this modern apartment is LICENSED by the Malta Tourism Authority and is compliant with all MTA requirements with respect to health and safety (fire regs) and comfort. The property offers three beautiful and tastefully furnished bedrooms one ensuite. The rooms are light, bright and elegant. Each room has an electric fan, and all benefit from the delicious breeze from the sea. The sitting room has a relaxing sun lounger, 2 single sofa beds, ample wicker chairs, and a magically relaxing ambiance to just BE. The kitchen is off the large sitting room area and offers a huge table to gather around. The wooden shutters of the living room open to the terrace and the magnificence of the historic view and to the sea. There is an outdoor table and chairs to enjoy the atmosphere and the view at night. Often this vista offers a great view of the frequent firework displays across the island when festa celebrations coincide with your stay. You look out toward the old British Naval hospital in Bighi, a classical-style building, that is now home to Malta's restoration centre. Beside you is Fort St Angelo. Vittoriosa is one of the towns designated 'city' by the Knights of St.John. The atmosphere is steeped in history and intrigue. A profound sense of silence and peacefulness embraces you as you saunter through the streets of ancient houses and dwelling places. The church of St.Lawrenz dominates. Vittoriosa has been a popular film location and some of the buildings have featured time and again in films that you may well have seen. The Count of Monte Christo, Gladiator, and Troy were in part filmed within the Three Cities. An international marina now plays host to an increasing number of super yachts from all over the world that come to berth for days at a time. Cruise liners gracefully glide into the Grand Harbour of Valletta, and these you can watch from the balcony of the apartment. Life on the sea is constantly rolling by. Always a quiet dignity prevails, and you can truly 'just be'. The Maritime Museum is along the waterfront, and several small museums within the city walls.
