Description:This is more like a mini-resort than a just a room. It is a totally independent and very roomy cabaña that includes its own living room area, a private bath, a partial kitchen, and it is right next to a large swimming pool. Sleeping accommodations include a queen size bed and one twin bed, which are in a quiet adjoining bedroom by the garden. We provide a computer with Internet access and a printer for you, with bookmarked pages of local attractions. There is no television, but there is a 47 widescreen TV with a DVD player. We offer a number of DVDs for you to borrow, plus there's also a Redbox kiosk for rentals less than a mile away. Please note that this unit is only available from March through mid-October. Also, it is not suitable for children under 16. The independent unit is on a pleasant 1/2 acre of gardened land. Our neighborhood is rural and tranquil, but also quite close to city amenities. A special attraction are three nearby parks. All are within easy walking distance: the city's Howarth Park, the county's Spring Lake Park, and beautiful Annadel State Park. Depending on your time and inclination, you might enjoy a short walk through oak woods, a little longer stroll around one of the lakes, or as much as a full-day of hiking--all right outside the gate of your accommodations. Annadel State Park has dozens of well-marked trails you could spend several days exploring its varied vistas. You're likely to see deer, geese, ducks, and wild turkeys, but if you're lucky, you might catch a glimpse of a fox or a bobcat. These same areas make for delightful runs, also. Just 54 miles north of San Francisco, we are located in the heart of California's best “wine country. Some fine wineries are only a few minutes drive along Highway 12, which winds through the gorgeous and unforgettable Sonoma Valley. Other excellent Sonoma County appellations (e.g., Alexander Valley, Dry Creek Valley, etc.) are just a short distance north. Heading west along the Russian River, Northern California's beautiful coast is only 25 miles away, and (certainly if you have time and have never experienced their majesty), some Redwood groves are not very far, either. It's a great area for photography! Sonoma County is fabulous country for cycling, too! You may want to visit the website of the Santa Rosa Cycling Club to get an idea of the range of possibilities awaiting you here. Check out their ride archive, for instance, which details a range of rides leaving from nearby Howarth Park. The Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition website also provides a variety of enjoyable cycling options. (We have printed copies of the maps and directions for a number of these local adventures for you, as well as information about local bike rentals. Our favorite local bike rental for quality, service, and price is After you've enjoyed visiting some charming local wineries and have savored their fine wines, or after you've taken in some of the local natural beauty, you'll experience additional pleasure relaxing by the beautiful swimming pool. Then it will be time for dinner in one of the many great local restaurants. We'll be glad to make some recommendations, depending on your favorite cuisine, your budget for the day, or your mood. There is quite a range from which to choose, with some good restaurants literally within walking distance, and many others just a short drive away. Finally, you'll sleep undisturbed under a comforter on a comfortable mattress, and you'll awaken to a delicious continental breakfast (with fruit, juice, coffee or tea, and home-baked goodies)--ready to enjoy another great day in Sonoma County, or already making plans for your return trip!

Description:Welcome to Bay Terrace, a quaint and historic neighborhood on the banks of the Napa River. My whole house is available it sits in front of a tiny urban farm, complete with a fruit orchard, vegetables, and beehives. I live a couple blocks away and tend to the house and garden as needed. House: The house has two bedrooms with queen-size beds, plus a third smaller room--an office-- with a loveseat and desk. The house also has a light-filled dining room, a bathroom with deep bathtub/shower, an upright piano, three redwood decks, a gas BBQ grill, a fireplace and wood, and a spacious, fully-stocked kitchen (oil, spices, pots, pans, etc all provided). There is a TV for local stations or to plug your computer into to watch movies, but I do not have cable. Central heating, washer/dryer, and wireless internet. The whole house is spotlessly clean, and there are clean linens and towels ready for you. Location: Bay Terrace neighborhood sits at the foot of the Napa Valley, right where the Napa River meets the San Pablo Bay. If you are into birds, this place is paradise. We are right next to the San Pablo Bay Wildlife Refuge, and the wetlands all around Vallejo are a stop on the Pacific Flyway where birds rest on their annual migrations. In fact, every February Vallejo hosts the Annual SF Bay Flyway Festival (look it up!) Last year, a pair of Great Horned Owls nested in the redwood tree next to my backyard, and I often see barn owls, raptors, woodpeckers, bluebirds, robins, hawks, and a lot of little birds I can't identify around my backyard and in the neighborhood. I'm not a birder at all, and I think it's pretty cool to see so many birds out the window. The locals say that Rudyard Kipling lived here for a time, and he said that Vallejo had the best sunsets of anywhere he'd been in the whole world. I believe it. Getting Around: It's a 20 minute drive to Napa or Sonoma wine country, 20 miles (30 min) to Berkeley, and 30 miles (45 minutes) to San Francisco. From the house, it's 1.5 miles to the Vallejo Ferry Terminal where there is ample free parking and you can take a 55-minute ferry or even faster bus directly to San Francisco. It's 7 minutes to the lovely town of Benicia which boasts antiquing and fine dining, 12 minutes to Infineon Raceway, 5 minutes to California Maritime Academy and numerous historical museums, 10 minutes to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom Amusement Park, and 5 minutes to Mare Island, the former Naval Shipyard. Mare Island is now home to Touro University Medical School, the USDA Forest Service offices, and St Peter's Chapel, the oldest Naval Chapel in the nation. PLEASE NOTE: 1. Security deposit: $100 (held by AirBnB, returned 48-hours after your departure) 2. Cleaning fee: $30 3. No smoking
