Enjoy views of the Sonoma coast countryside and the Pacific Ocean beyond from your private hideaway. Pacific view cottage is the most popular offering in Airbnb’s 'Romantic Getaway' collection. Four miles west of the town of Occidental, the cottage sits on the coastal ridge four miles inland from the Pacific ocean. At about 800’ elevation, the cottage is often above the coastal fog but can also provide refuge from the summer heat. Set among oak, fir, and bay laurel trees, it has vistas of the surrounding coastal hills with the Pacific beyond. A steep, winding road from the syrah vineyard leads down through the forest to the two-level cottage. A sweeping terra cotta staircase takes you to the upper level of the cottage. The living area upstairs has a seating area with Swedish comfort chairs, as well as a dining table and chairs. The kitchen area has a refrigerator, stove, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker as well as dishes and cooking equipment to prepare meals or snacks. French doors upstairs lead to two small decks, one with a bistro table and chairs providing a spot for a meal and views to the Pt. Reyes lighthouse on a clear day. A spiral staircase leads to a bedroom and bath below. The bedroom on the lower level has a double (full) size bed with down comforter and CD/clock radio with ipod/iphone dock. French doors lead to decks on three sides the decks provide sweeping views of the woods and hills beyond. Enjoy views of the outdoors from two sides of the shower. We provide fresh linens, towels, hair dryer, iron, soap and shampoo, and bathrobes for your use. Both levels of the cottage have hydronically heated stone floors. You'll share this private retreat with the occasional red fox, pileated woodpecker, hummingbird, deer, vulture, golden eagle or banana slug. Hiking, biking, wineries, scenic drives, and restaurants are all nearby. A little more than an hour from San Francisco, the cottage is 15 minutes from the Sonoma coast beaches, 5 minutes from scenic Coleman Valley Road, 4 miles to the quaint village of Occidental with its unique shops, wine tasting and restaurants. We are a scenic 30 mile drive from Point Reyes Station and the National Seashore. In 15 minutes, you can be at a number of great Sonoma County wineries. Healdsburg is a 40 minute drive. There is no land line phone, high speed internet or tv. Most, but not all, cell phones work here. One of our first guests explained it best: “Waking up this morning in the middle of the woods, we decided this just might be the most beautiful place on earth.” Please let us know if you were referred by a previous guest. It also has a fully equipped kitchen with a convection/microwave, coffee maker, cook-top stove, refrigerator, pots and pans, toaster, blender, spices, kitchen utensils, and place settings for four. Luxury Linens- 600 thread bedding, down comforters, extra bedding, large luxury towels, and robes for your comfort. Also, iron and ironing board, hair dryer, electric fireplace, and more. For larger groups the Hummingbird Cottage is next to the Stellar Jay and Heron Cottages. Privacy gates between cottages can be unlocked and opened if a group were to rent the whole compound. With all gates unlocked, guests have access to each other’s yards and the common area. Here are picnic tables, sitting areas, and a campfire ring for morning and evening gatherings. Description:A beautiful, peaceful destination amidst redwood and oak trees. Perfect for a romantic getaway, wine tasting, river adventures or golf. The cottage sits on a hillside 10 minutes from the Russian River and 5 minutes from Guerneville. It has one bedroom with attached private deck, separate bathroom with bathtub and shower, fully-stocked kitchen and a charming living room area. The living room contains a full-sized fold out couch. We provide fresh linens, towels, hair dryer, soap and shampoo, coffee, tea & 1/2 & 1/2 as well as some fresh fruit. There is no phone or TV. Most cell phones get reception at the location. Travel time to this location from San Francisco is a little over an hour. The cottage is a short 20-minute drive to the sweeping coastline towns of Bodega Bay or Jenner, 15 minutes from Armstrong Woods State Park, 10 minutes to swimming, kayaking or sunbathing at the Russian River. Wine tasting at the extraordinary Sonoma County wineries is only a short drive away. A number of fine restaurants are close by. Hiking, biking and horseback riding are also short distances away. Location is a 5-minute walk to the 9-hole MacKenzie-designed Northwood Golf Course. The golf course was recently rated as the #3 9-hole golf course in America by Golf World Magazine.For runners there are many beautiful trails nearby. Description:This romantic Treehouse like cottage is located on 5 acres in the mountains above the Valley of the Moon in Sonoma. This unique studio cottage features a waterfall, suspension bridge and a star gazer dwelling on a cliff. It is often used by honeymooners and for anniversaries and birthday celebrations. Only 15 to 20 minutes to some of the best wineries and dining in the region. The cottage is listed in the Lover's Guide to Waterfalls and offers private hiking trails and a 40 foot waterfall in the winter & spring. Situated at a private residence, the Bella Luna Mountaintop Retreat, offers only one vacation cottage with privacy, breathtaking views and a magical tree house like place to stay. Please note you do not need to cross the bridge to get to cottage. The wifi is only available on request and for limited periods. Hot Tub is an additional fee of $75 and needs advanced notice to clean and ready it. It is near the main house - so some guests are not comfortable using it. There is a jacuzzi for 2 people inside the cottage itself. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING BIG AND SPACIOUS this is NOT the place. The cottage is a small studio with a large wrap around deck. There is a kitchenette in the cottage as well as a jacuzzi tub for two people.
