Description:Just outside the charming Idaho town of Sun Valley, nestled in the Wood River Valley, the robust log and stone style of the Rocky Mountain West combines with this European Castle Fantasy to create a family retreat nothing short of enchanting.Described as a mountain castle, this luxury rental vacation home is nearly 17,000 feet surrounded by 13 acres of manicured lawns, lush pasture and lots of mature trees, making it a very private and cozy compound. Without intruding on an individual’s privacy, the house encompasses 11 bedrooms, 17 bathrooms, 2 great rooms, multiple gathering/ entertainment areas, 2 separate dining areas, a 700 sq ft commercial grade gym, large steam room, full size elevator service and a large spa.Clusters of two to four bedrooms surround small sitting areas, allowing a few members of the family to get together in intimate settings. Many spaces within the house give you the feeling as if you were in a house within a house. It’s very cozy, yet it can accommodate a large group of people without feeling crowded. To the west, the dining room looks out over a 20’ high stone and iron sculpture. The kitchen and sunroom to the south have fabulous morning sun and views down valley. The Master Suite is accessed from the Great Room to the north…. Lush fabrics, vaulted ceiling and old world plaster fireplace give it a distinctive European flair. The spacious Master Bath features his and her vanities and water closets, a large jetted Kohler soaking tub and separate shower. Downstairs, the entertainment area with its enveloping ambiance is decidedly cowboy in style serving 4 bedrooms all opening onto the west patio. The Game Room in the central core, with its’ pool table, shuffle board table and home theater center, offers a fun place to be together and enjoy one another’s company. The adjacent Library offers a great place to read, check up on the daily news or play a hand of cards by a cozy fire. A private Suite above is a perfect little enclave with a sitting room joining 2 bedrooms each with separate baths… one bedroom large enough to accommodate seven comfortably. The central staircase wraps around the cylindrical iron clad elevator core that ascends to the upstairs study…which is decidedly French accented with fine art, carved panel walls and fireplace and ceiling murals depicting bird hunting scenes. Descending into the wine cellar, circular stone walls, winding stairways and iron sconces mimic a medieval dungeon, all part of the adventure. In the north wing, the 4 bedroom Suites upstairs take on a distinctly alpine feeling as does the North Great Room and dining area with its stone and iron fireplace and views of the north valley and Baldy. Below is a commercial grade gym. Its equipment includes a Life Cycle upright bike and recumbent bike, a Precor elliptical exerciser, Olympic style free weights, as well as 21 separate pieces of strength equipment and TV with 2 monitors.Outside, the dramatic Wood River Valley surroundings are awe-inspiring, influencing architectural design that takes full advantage of vistas from every room. The best seats in the house are found nearly 50 feet above the home’s foundation, where ascending from the Great Room the turreted cupola, offers 360-degree views of the surrounding woods and mountains, and a bird’s eye view of fireworks during Fourth of July and New Year’s Eve celebrations.Surrounding the rambling structure are decks, patios and flower gardens connected by wandering stone paths. The beautifully landscaped grounds, that include a waterfalls, 3 ponds, audio feeds from main house system and several stone and iron sculptures, can accommodate large outdoor gatherings… perfect for a romantic wedding or large family get together. The valley’s trail system conveniently runs along the east border of the property, where you can bike in the summer and cross country ski in the winter. The property has a sledding hill, perfect for children of all ages. Mountain biking trails are within riding distance. The home is equipped with a multi source audio system that serves the entire house and exterior gardens, cable service, wireless internet, fully equipped office with fax and copy service and computer access, heated by both radiant and forced air as well as air conditioned, 4 car garage and served by 3 separate washer/dryer setups. To help maintain the beauty of this property, smoking is not allowed. A pet may be welcome with owner approval and payment of a nonrefundable pet deposit.
