Built in the sixteenth century, Leopold Castle was the home of The Grand Duke of Tuscany Leopold II for many years. This Luxury Castle rental is a splendid way of discovering the rich history, art and beauty of Tuscany, living as the nobles did in the XVI century but with all the comforts of the XXI century. Just opposite the Island of Elba, looking out onto olive groves, Leopold Castle accommodates 20 guests with its seven suites and three en suite bedrooms. The same family has owned the castle since 1860 and in the beginning of the 1900 's it was carefully restored with the close supervision of the Monuments and Fine Arts Office. Transport yourself back in time as you enter the Castle 's main door which will lead you into an impressive entry hall enriched with oil paintings and furnished with an important 18th century wooden table. To the left of this hall is a small sitting room, containing an antique wooden desk (RECEPTION), a bookcase, and sitting area. At the end of the entrance hall and to the left, there is another sitting room with a fireplace and a bar in the corner. Here we can also access an intimate living room richly furnished with an antique chest, two very comfortable sofas upholstered with rich damask fabric, a television and DVD player. nOn the right hand side of the entrance hall, there is a luminous and ceramic tiled dining room, where guests enjoy their buffet breakfast, along with lunch and dinner should they so choose. nThe first floor can be reached via two staircases: one to the left and one to the right of the entrance hall. nThe staircase to the right of the entrance hall is a grand structure furnished with two antique suits of armour. It leads to the impressive Grand Duke 's bedroom (Suite 3). This suite looks out onto both the front and rear gardens, and is painted cardinal red. It also contains antique furnishings, including a 17th century headboard, bookcases and grand piano. This second staircase also leads to two other suites (Suites 1 & 2), one overlooking the southern garden, the other with a view of the northern garden. nAt the top of the second staircase, we come across a lovely suite with a large terrace (Suite 7), decorated in a soothing shade of green. Near the suite, there are two double bedrooms (Rooms 5 & 6) and another suite (Suite 4). nDescending this staircase, to the right at mezzanine level, there is a small lounge, equipped with TV and internet point. WI-FI access is available on most of the ground floor in the common areas, including the garden area, and in the majority of the bedrooms. Continuing downstairs, there is a double bedroom (Room 9), a junior suite (Suite 8) and a staircase which leads to another junior suite (Suite 10) in the attic. This room features exposed wooden beams and a commanding view of the landscape. nOn entering the rear garden of the Castello, via the glass doors at the end of the entrance hall, there is a well kept rose garden and lawn area with comfortable outdoor furniture. It is an ideal place to enjoy a cool drink during the hot summer evenings. To the right, there is another area with chairs, tables and canvas umbrellas, where one can have breakfast or dine during the summer months, or perhaps even have lunch during the first warm spring days. nBelow the garden, in an enclosed area, there is the swimming pool, which is in use from mid-May to the end of September. The swimming pool overlooks a terraced olive grove and, during the hot summer hours is shaded by centuries-old, maritime pine trees. Near the pool is a hot tub and fitness corner with various gym equipment. This area also has a changing room with a bathroom. nAll the bedrooms are equipped with air conditioning, mini bar, private safe, and television. Description:The main castle of Chateau Diane was built in 1620. The chateau and its 32 hectares (79 acres) is blessed by Diane, the goddess of hunting. This magical property, situated on the romantic Cosson River, is located just outside the famous Chateau Chambord and close to all of the other wonders that the Loire has to offer. A stay at Chateau Diane is like stepping back in time and living as royalty, close to nature and beauty in a Chateau that has aged beautifully with time. Chateau Diane can accommodate up 28 guests in 16 spacious and well appointed bedrooms. Chateau Diane is perfect for large family gatherings, weddings, reunions or families wishing to share memorable times together. Chateau Diane has a pool with pool house, tennis court, and facilities for large banquets. nUpon entering Chateau Diane you will be surrounded by history as you discover the spacious and beautifully decorated living room with majestic fireplace, comfortable couches, and piano. The main dining room also has a fireplace and can be used for formal sit down meals or to organize a stand up cocktail or other events. The French doors look out onto the Cosson River. The paintings that adorn the walls tell a story all in themselves. The ceilings throughout are not to be missed. From the large dining room, there is a smaller dining room for more intimate meals. nWith time, the Pavillon was added to the main Chateau and dates back to the 18th century. On the ground floor is a study with fireplace, bookshelf, computer with photocopier, stereo, MP3 player, couches and tables. nBehind the study is a fully equipped kitchen with cutlery and dishes for up to 35 guests. The kitchen also looks out onto the Cosson. Next to the kitchen is the laundry room with washing machine and dryer. nUnder this part of the Castle, there is a professional kitchen which can only be used by professional chefs. This is perfect for weddings and large gatherings. Next to the professional kitchen is a large dining room with arched ceilings, fireplace, and dining capacity of 50 guests. This is the perfect room to organize a Renaissance dinner with costumes! nIn the 19th Century, a third part was added to the castle. On the ground floor is the hunter's dining room. This room also has a fireplace. At one point, part of this building was the chapel. It has been transformed into a very lovely suite with a king size bed or two twin beds upon request. This suite has a bathtub and shower. nNext to this bedroom is the main room of the Orangerie which can be used for weddings, gatherings, dinners etc. It is 130m2 and has 5 toilets, one of them for the handicapped. There is also a piano, stereo and MP3 player. Of course there are chairs, tables and all that is needed for a large dinner. Galgano. Certaldo is 18 minutes to the west, and the famous San Gimignano 25 minutes to the south-west. Florence is quickly reached along the motorway, 35 minutes, but the slower route through the Chianti Classico region on the Via Chiantigiana, 25 minutes, is one of the loveliest drives in Italy. The family of the owner produces wine since more than 500 years. nRestaurants: many good restaurants in Chianti can make eating out a way of discovering the area. Simple local trattorias which have existed for years as well as more sophisticated restaurants specialised in refined cuisine stand door to door. nCraftmanship: the closeby town of Impruneta is famous for its large terracotta pots which originally were used for the lemon trees and to store olive oil.
