Description:The Cottage at Green Gates is a Tidy 1 bed/1bath Tudor guest house situated on our large lot, a five minute walk from Asilomar State Beach. The cottage is offered fully furnished with kitchenette, organic fair trade coffee, selection of teas, and each morning we serve you a light breakfast. (i.e. scrambled eggs or yogurt granola, organic local fruit, homemade bread, etc.) Note: if you have food allergies or dietary limitations of any kind, please let us know in advance, we're happy to accommodate you! NEW: complimentary guest passes to the Monterey Bay Aquarium ($60 value) TV secured Wifi Non-destructive pets are welcome Small, semi-private patio Complimentary organic toiletries Iron/ironing board Hair dryer All linens included, plus dishes, pots, pans, and basics like oil, spices, etc. NEW: 4-inch memory foam mattress topper (we're told it is very comfortable!) We're on the MST bus line, so if you'd rather not drive, the #1 express stops right outside our gates at :21 after the hour until 7pm. The cottage comfortably sleeps 2. If your party is larger (i.e. a 3rd person, or a child) please contact us in advance to discuss arrangements, we can stash an Aero bed and extra linens in the closet prior to your arrival. You should know a few things.... 1. We live in the main house full-time, and have 2 dogs. Though our dogs do not go in the guest cottage, if you suffer from severe pet allergies you should know that dogs do roam the yard from time to time, and there might have been a guest pup in the cottage prior to your reservation. Though we do clean the cottage thoroughly between guests, it is certainly likely that allergens could still be present. 2. Additionally, you should know that approximately once per week (usually Thursdays or Fridays) we have our weekly yard service. Sometimes the maintenance is relatively quiet (raking, trimming, etc.) and sometimes the situation is far more noisy (leaf blowers, weed whackers, and the like). Most guests haven't minded, but someone mentioned it recently and we figured going forward, our guests should know what to expect. 3. If you accidentally take the Aquarium Guest Passes with you when you depart, we will expect you to overnight them back to us at your expense so that we can offer the same courtesy to our next guests. 4. For reservations booked after May 2012, we are asking for a 2 night minimum. If you've booked prior to May 2012, we will absolutely honor your reservation for 1 night. We *LOVE* hosting Airbnb guests, and whether you opt to stay with us, or elsewhere, I'm confident you'll enjoy your trip to the stunning Monterey Peninsula.

Description:Come experience a peaceful and quiet get-a-way above the fog line in the Aptos mountains with a million dollar view! The cottage overlooks an old apple orchard that is surrounded by majestic redwood trees. Relax on a large private deck overlooking the peaceful valley and soak in the sunshine. Lay around by the pool or swim in a beautiful setting. Take a walk along the quiet country road. Whatever you choose to do during your stay, there is something about this peaceful little haven that will sooth your senses. Apple Orchard Cottage is located 5 miles from the historic and quaint little town of Aptos, CA. It is a 15 minute drive from Aptos Village of which 2 miles wind through a lush canopy of trees on a paved, one lane private road. It is 15 minutes from town and the beach. Aptos has great restaurants, a theater, shopping, coffee shops, Safeway and CVS as well as a natural food store. Aptos is centrally located to Santa Cruz and Monterey. The cottage is single level and has close and easy access from parking. The Apple Orchard Cottage, also referred to lovingly as “The Granny Unit”, shares property with our home but has plenty of privacy. Amenities: Kitchen (full and functional): Gas stove/oven, microwave refrigerator- full size coffee pot and coffee bean grinder toaster. The kitchen is also stocked with an assortment of basic condiments—olive oil, vinegar, sugar, salt 100% cotton 500 thread count sheets full mattress encasement from “Protect A Bed” the ultimate in bedbug and dust mite protection technology. The comforter is either in a cotton duvet cover (or has a cotton sheet over the top) which is washed after each guest. Pillows are double cased too. Bathroom: Large tiled shower, soap, shampoo and conditioner hair dryer Living room: Sofa love seat and day bed with trundle. 30 HD Flat Screen TV with DVD player. TV may come in sporadically but cannot be counted on. Deck-Private: The deck wraps around the front and side of the cottage and has a stunning view. There is a table and chairs under a canopy that allows filtered sun. Also 2 Zero Gravity lounge chairs to relax in. Smoking is NOT permitted INSIDE the cottage however, it is allowed OUTSIDE on the deck, away from the cottage windows. The swimming pool on premises is available for use. The water temperature varies throughout the year as it is SUN HEATED ONLY. It reaches 80 degrees in the summer as it has full sun exposure all day! In the off seasons or when there is no sun, it can be chilly and enjoyed by polar bears. Maybe someday we will have it heated year round. The pool is a shared area but is not used very often, so don't be surprised if you seem to have it all to yourself! This is paradise for the person who loves wildlife, as in nature not partying. Deer abound. Bobcats are frequently seen wondering the property. Wild turkeys come and go. Bunnies frolic around the property most the day. Birds are abundant. Swallows arrive in April, leave in July. About 10 hummingbirds live here year round. We have a quiet and friendly dog named Riley that wanders the property, but he will not be able to get into your private area. We cherish the quiet and solitude. The Apple Orchard Cottage is truly a rare and peaceful get-away from the hustle and bustle of life. The Cottage is in a country and rural setting but has all amenities needed for comfort, relaxation and enjoyment. Your hosts are near enough should you need anything, yet far enough to ensure your privacy. Pets are allowed by special permission. They must be trained, housebroken, no fleas and not allowed on the furniture or left in the cottage alone. Cell phone service is sporadic at best with all services but Verizon. Verizon works great most (98%) of the time. There is no land line phone in the cottage. Wi-Fi wireless can be accessed from the cottage and sometimes from the pool area. The Wi-Fi service accommodates BASIC internet usage only, and is NOT intended for streaming, gaming or any other high bandwidth usage. As an added value to our Cottage Guests, we are providing at no additional cost to you...drum roll please....2 all day guest passes to the Monterey Bay Aquarium! You can go all day or just drop in for a couple hours. The aquarium is about a 45 minute drive south on Highway 1. Just let us know if you would like to use the passes and for what day(s) and they will be provided. Enjoy!

House is a bock before intersection to UCSC and long walk or short ride to Pacific Ocean. Street ends in community garden and park. Very sweet neighborhood (quiet, mostly owner-occupied so no loud student parties :) Wide driveway lots of off-street parking. House includes: -wifi --2 TV's -hair dryer -blenders, coffee pot, electric tea pot -all manner of pots kitchen table w/4 chairs Two bedroom house, secluded patio, just blocks from the Pacific Ocean. No pets, no kids (sorry...all white furniture). Fully equipped kitchen--with more appliances than I ever use! New bathroom, wood floors throughout laundry in garage. Mostly bamboo sheets and towels. Two bedrooms bedrom #1 has a brand new queen bed bedroom #2 has new sleepr sofa with feather bed for extra fluffiness living room also has a sleeper sofa (queen). Cable TV in both bedrooms wifi $100 cleaning fee(in advance) security deposit required, and expect guests to tell me if something gets broken :)

Easy walking to the yacht harbor and beach so you can rent kayaks, surf boards, SUPs (stand up paddling). Bicycling along the ocean is fairly flat or go to the mountains for a challenging mountain bike ride. Or course one of the best beaches for sun bathing and volleyball is an easy two block walk right behind the ever popular Crow’s Nest Restaurant. (Please read all of this description before making a reservation. The pricing could be different depending on the length of your stay. Save $$$) Santa Cruz is No. 15 in TripAdvisor rankings TripAdvisor is listing Santa Cruz as No. 15 among U.S. destinations on the rise, partly for being one of America’s surfing capitals. The top three things to do as recommended by visitors: West Cliff Drive, for breathtaking views and a chance to see monarch butterflies, the San¬ta Cruz Beach Boardwalk and the UC Santa Cruz Arboretum. Santa Cruz Food Tour is the top-rated tour, fol¬lowed by Stagnaro Fishing Trips it has a very thin mattress. The charming bathroom has a blue tiled shower with unlimited hot water. There is also a hair dryer. The full kitchen comes with a toaster, blender, coffee maker, gas stove, microwave, and refrigerator. We also have an ironing board and iron for your convenience. Comcast provides services for Wi-Fi, the 32” flat screen TV, and telephone. There is also a DVD player and an iPod charging dock. We provide clean sheets, pillow cases, and blankets. For the bathroom we provide towels, hand towels, and wash clothes. There are also 4 beach towels. Within walking distance we have everything you need for a lazy day. For restaurants close by you can walk to the Crow’s Nest, Johnny’s Harborside, El Palomar Café, The Kind Grind (coffee), Harbor Café (breakfast and lunch). Aldo’s is on the other side of the harbor which is great for a long walk. During the summer there is a free water taxi that goes around the harbor. Slow, calm, and great for all ages. For local grocery stores Santa Cruz style we have Shopper’s Corner, New Leaf, and Staff of Life. We also have two Whole Foods and a Trader Joe’s. I am surprised that TripAdvisor didn’t mention Pacific Garden Mall for an activity. Downtown is a really cool way to get exposure to Santa Cruz. Just sit on a bench and watch what goes by. Or course they have movies and restaurants and shopping and treats. We require a two night minimum at the daily rate. There is a $75 cleaning fee. This cleaning fee is waived should you stay a minimum of 3 nights. Our rates are seasonal so watch the calendar for the current rate. Therefore, if the rate is $99 a night and you stay for 3 nights the price will be $297 plus the 10% ($29.70) Airbnb charges for a total of $326.70. If you choose to stay two nights the price would be $198 plus the cleaning fee of $75 for a sub total of $273 plus the Airbnb charge of 10%. Total $300.30. Most guests choose to spend a third night enjoying Santa Cruz for close to the same price. If you choose the 3 plus night option Airbnb well deduct the $75 which lowers the daily cost. The easiest way to deduct the cleaning fee is to send me the inquiry and I will special offer you a reduced price. If you enjoy long beach walks or walks around a harbor where the scenery is forever changing this is the place for you. The low sounds of sea lions in the distance and the long lines of Brown Pelicans flying by are always mesmerizing. If you enjoy great restaurants the world famous Shadowbrook in Capitola consistently gets voted for most romantic. We hope you choose our cottage for your stay.
