Description:The Cottage at Green Gates is a Tidy 1 bed/1bath Tudor guest house situated on our large lot, a five minute walk from Asilomar State Beach. The cottage is offered fully furnished with kitchenette, organic fair trade coffee, selection of teas, and each morning we serve you a light breakfast. (i.e. scrambled eggs or yogurt granola, organic local fruit, homemade bread, etc.) Note: if you have food allergies or dietary limitations of any kind, please let us know in advance, we're happy to accommodate you! NEW: complimentary guest passes to the Monterey Bay Aquarium ($60 value) TV secured Wifi Non-destructive pets are welcome Small, semi-private patio Complimentary organic toiletries Iron/ironing board Hair dryer All linens included, plus dishes, pots, pans, and basics like oil, spices, etc. NEW: 4-inch memory foam mattress topper (we're told it is very comfortable!) We're on the MST bus line, so if you'd rather not drive, the #1 express stops right outside our gates at :21 after the hour until 7pm. The cottage comfortably sleeps 2. If your party is larger (i.e. a 3rd person, or a child) please contact us in advance to discuss arrangements, we can stash an Aero bed and extra linens in the closet prior to your arrival. Rates slightly higher during major tourist events ($175) 2 night minimum required during major tourist events (i.e. AT&T, Concours d'Elegance, US Open, etc.) Location: 5 minute walk to Asilomar State Beach, Asilomar Conference Ctr, and the recreation trail (Bring your binoculars - almost guaranteed sightings of otters and seals, and lately, whale spouts!) 15-20 minute walk or 5 minute drive to downtown Pacific Grove 10 minute drive to Oldtown Monterey/Wharf Approximately 3 miles from Cannery Row/Monterey Bay Aquarium Less than 1 mile from the 17 mile drive gates into Pebble Beach 1/3 mile from Pacific Grove Municipal Golf Course 20ish minute drive to Carmel Valley/Wine Country 30ish minute drive to INCREDIBLY scenic Big Sur Bring your bicycles - our mild climate and stunning scenery make the Monterey Peninsula an ideal spot for exploring on 2 wheels. You should know a few things.... 1. We live in the main house full-time, and have 2 dogs. Though our dogs do not go in the guest cottage, if you suffer from severe pet allergies you should know that dogs do roam the yard from time to time, and there might have been a guest pup in the cottage prior to your reservation. Though we do clean the cottage thoroughly between guests, it is certainly likely that allergens could still be present. 2. Additionally, you should know that approximately once per week (usually Thursdays or Fridays) we have our weekly yard service. Sometimes the maintenance is relatively quiet (raking, trimming, etc.) and sometimes the situation is far more noisy (leaf blowers, weed whackers, and the like). Most guests haven't minded, but someone mentioned it recently and we figured going forward, our guests should know what to expect. 3. If you accidentally take the Aquarium Guest Passes with you when you depart, we will expect you to overnight them back to us at your expense so that we can offer the same courtesy to our next guests. 4. For reservations booked after May 2012, we are asking for a 2 night minimum. If you've booked prior to May 2012, we will absolutely honor your reservation for 1 night. We *LOVE* hosting Airbnb guests, and whether you opt to stay with us, or elsewhere, I'm confident you'll enjoy your trip to the stunning Monterey Peninsula.

Description:Come discover why Santa Cruz is such a popular destination. Our stand alone cottage (not in our back yard) is on a quiet alley way centrally located near great activities. Easy walking to the yacht harbor and beach so you can rent kayaks, surf boards, SUPs (stand up paddling). Bicycling along the ocean is fairly flat or go to the mountains for a challenging mountain bike ride. Or course one of the best beaches for sun bathing and volleyball is an easy two block walk right behind the ever popular Crow’s Nest Restaurant. (Please read all of this description before making a reservation. The pricing could be different depending on the length of your stay. Save $$$) Santa Cruz is No. 15 in TripAdvisor rankings TripAdvisor is listing Santa Cruz as No. 15 among U.S. destinations on the rise, partly for being one of America’s surfing capitals. The top three things to do as recommended by visitors: West Cliff Drive, for breathtaking views and a chance to see monarch butterflies, the San¬ta Cruz Beach Boardwalk and the UC Santa Cruz Arboretum. Santa Cruz Food Tour is the top-rated tour, fol¬lowed by Stagnaro Fishing Trips it has a very thin mattress. The charming bathroom has a blue tiled shower with unlimited hot water. There is also a hair dryer. The full kitchen comes with a toaster, blender, coffee maker, gas stove, microwave, and refrigerator. We also have an ironing board and iron for your convenience. Comcast provides services for Wi-Fi, the 32” flat screen TV, and telephone. There is also a DVD player and an iPod charging dock. We provide clean sheets, pillow cases, and blankets. For the bathroom we provide towels, hand towels, and wash clothes. There are also 4 beach towels. Within walking distance we have everything you need for a lazy day. For restaurants close by you can walk to the Crow’s Nest, Johnny’s Harborside, El Palomar Café, The Kind Grind (coffee), Harbor Café (breakfast and lunch). Aldo’s is on the other side of the harbor which is great for a long walk. During the summer there is a free water taxi that goes around the harbor. Slow, calm, and great for all ages. For local grocery stores Santa Cruz style we have Shopper’s Corner, New Leaf, and Staff of Life. We also have two Whole Foods and a Trader Joe’s. I am surprised that TripAdvisor didn’t mention Pacific Garden Mall for an activity. Downtown is a really cool way to get exposure to Santa Cruz. Just sit on a bench and watch what goes by. Or course they have movies and restaurants and shopping and treats. We require a two night minimum at the daily rate. There is a $75 cleaning fee. This cleaning fee is waived should you stay a minimum of 3 nights. Our rates are seasonal so watch the calendar for the current rate. Therefore, if the rate is $99 a night and you stay for 3 nights the price will be $297 plus the 10% ($29.70) Airbnb charges for a total of $326.70. If you choose to stay two nights the price would be $198 plus the cleaning fee of $75 for a sub total of $273 plus the Airbnb charge of 10%. Total $300.30. Most guests choose to spend a third night enjoying Santa Cruz for close to the same price. If you choose the 3 plus night option Airbnb well deduct the $75 which lowers the daily cost. The easiest way to deduct the cleaning fee is to send me the inquiry and I will special offer you a reduced price. If you enjoy long beach walks or walks around a harbor where the scenery is forever changing this is the place for you. The low sounds of sea lions in the distance and the long lines of Brown Pelicans flying by are always mesmerizing. If you enjoy great restaurants the world famous Shadowbrook in Capitola consistently gets voted for most romantic. We hope you choose our cottage for your stay.
