A playful spirit prevails in this bright, light-filled cottage within walking distance of the sea. Everything about this immaculate two-story renovated 1912 house from the spotless white, red and black chefs ' dream kitchen to the light-washed, garden-themed upstairs master bedroom with its distant water views, tells you that you have relinquished the cares of everyday life for an escape into relaxation, rejuvenation and fun. If a house could have a disposition, this ones ' would be sunny. This is not the generic atmosphere of a motel or hotel, this is a home filled with personality and warmth. Sea otter memorabilia displayed throughout reflects the owner 's passion for these enchanting creatures, which can be seen frolicking off the nearby shoreline. Among its special features are a two-person hot tub (complete with spa robes) situated in a private patio, a hammock, an upstairs enclosed balcony for star gazing, a wood-burning fireplace in the living room and much more. nThe master suite has a queen bed. a small sitting area with white wicker furniture and distant ocean views. Additional sleeping space is provided by a pullout sofa in an adjacent office with pocket doors for privacy. This space is perfect for smaller children. (All beds have down comforters and top-quality linen.) An armoire contains a TV, DVD and VHS player. There is a bathroom with tub/shower located off the master suite. n nThe main floor features a large living room with a wood-burning fireplace, a large comfortable sofa and love seat and TV. The over-sized couch can accommodate a child or an adult for overflow sleeping space. The guest bedroom off the living room features a queen-size bed and a bookcase full of inspirational reading material. The dining room can accommodate up to 12 seated at the table, and there are sliding glass doors out to a private enclosed deck with patio furniture and a BBQ grill. n nThe stunning, recently updated kitchen is the heart of the home and the owner 's passion. It is stocked with every cooking tool you could possibly need. There is a laundry room and a full bathroom with a separate bathtub and shower on the lower level. n nAmong the house 's other special features are a two-person hot tub (complete with spa robes) situated in the private patio, a hammock, an upstairs enclosed balcony for star gazing, a wood-burning fireplace in the living room, a dining room that seats 10-12, two cable TVs with sports channels, and a computer station that includes wi-fi, high-speed internet and a printer. nGuests will be greeted with complimentary hors d 'oeuvres, and sparkling cider, two aquarium tickets, and a basket chock full of information about the area. The famed 17-Mile-Drive is only minutes away. Carmel with its many art galleries, gift shops and restaurants, is a 10 minute drive, as are historic Monterey and Fisherman 's Wharf. Of course, the natural beauty of the area is available at every turn, but most notably in such areas as Point Lobos and the rugged Big Sur coastline, both short excursions. If this is a critical component of your vacation, then my apartment probably isn't the one to choose. But among the endless local spots here in town that provide it, The Bagelry, at 1636 Seabright Ave. - approx. 3 minutes drive from the studio - offers free wifi. Helpful hint: read my Guidebook for a few more free wifi spots. Subject to increased nightly price on certain high demand dates, and seasonal rate changes - check listing calendar as varying rates are always posted in advance. At this time, I'm sorry to report that I can no longer allow pets to stay at my rental. :( REGARDING DIRECTIONS TO MY RENTAL, PLEASE READ One of the best features of my studio is that it is a separate, detached, and very private unit from the main house on the property, with its own separate private parking space, fenced yard, and it's own, separate entrance. For these reasons, I give booked guests SIMPLE, exact directions on how to reach the studio, and I meet them there to check in. The studio has the same address as the front house, but is at the rear of the property and is accessed by an alley which runs parallel the full length of Pacheco Ave.. I always provide exact directions via email after bookings, SO PLEASE FOLLOW THEM AND MEET ME THERE, NOT AT THE MAIN HOUSE, (simply because if I am awaiting your arrival at your actual destination, I will not hear you knocking on the door of a different house). Description:Lighthouse View Villa nLighthouse View Villa is a top of the world, 3-story home that has one of the BEST views in Santa Cruz. From the top deck, you can see the lighthouse at the end of the Harbor, the famous Giant Dipper at the Boardwalk, the Santa Cruz wharf, the Twin Lakes Lagoon & the Surfer Museum Lighthouse! This deck has 2 lounge chairs to relax in and a hot tub big enough for 4-6 guests. nThe Lighthouse View Villa is just 4-houses to the beach and a 30-second walk to the sand. Enjoy the spectacular ocean view from the master bedroom with a private deck that has a patio table and chairs for your morning coffee. This is luxurious living at its best. nThe large kitchen has four bar stools at a teak counter, teak cabinets, & a Jen-Aire inside grill on the stove top! There is also a high top table with six chairs. The deck has a gas BBQ and a four person table right outside. The vaulted ceiling living room has a very large sectional couch as well as other chairs to enjoy the flat screen TV with a DVD player or to get cozy by the fireplace. Close to the living room there is also a 1/2 bath. nThis spacious, well decorated & comfortable home has stained glass windows with silk rose and shell decorations. There are three bedrooms downstairs. The first bedroom has one queen bed with a TV. There is a full bath with a shower between the 1st and 2nd bedroom. The 2nd bedroom has a king bed with a private door to the bathroom. Also downstairs past the hallway there is a door that makes the 3rd bedroom with 2 Pullman-style bunk beds (built into the walls) with cozy reading lamps and a dresser. Just past these beds is a queen futon that makes into a bed. nThe 4th bedroom is on the 2nd floor. This elegant & spacious master bedroom has a king bed, 42 inch flat-screen TV and a double vanity bathroom with a large tile shower area and a marvelous view of the ocean. Enjoy the view from the attached outdoor deck with 4 person table with umbrella to enjoy your morning coffee. nDownstairs, go out the back door to the rear of the home where there is space for 3 cars to park located off an alley. There is also parking for 1 or 2 cars in front of the home and 2 parking permits to park on the street are required during the high season (Approx April 1-until after Labor Day, just during the weekends.) Description:The Blue Whale nThe Blue Whale is a unique house that has one home upstairs and one downstairs. This setup makes it great for family reunions and group retreats. The front of the home also has a large deck for entertaining with a spacious teak table.
