The decision is yours as to whether or not you’,ll stay in to cook dinner and eat on your terrace or dine out at one of the restaurants in the neighboring Chianti towns of this self-catering Tuscany accommodation. n nThis ancient stone villa in the hills of Chianti is surrounded by vineyards, orchards, and olive groves. There is a large garden with an open-air shower, barbecue, table tennis, and dressing room with a refrigerator and toilet. The private swimming pool [6m x 14m] has a diving board and loungers and is surrounded by grass landscaping. Access to the property is via an unpaved but well-maintained road and covered parking is available within the grounds. n n[250 m2] nGround floor: There is a living/dining room with a couch, armchair, satellite TV, fax machine, and a dining area with a table and chairs. Each September, Greve hosts the biggest wine festival in the region but it’,s also famous for its funnel-shaped, arcaded Piazza Mercatale that has a statue of the 16th century explorer, Verrazzano, in the center. Chianti, known for its production of red wine, is full of specialized wine shops, wine tour opportunities, cooking classes, restaurants, museums, and castles. Another charming hilltop town in Chianti is Castellina, which today looks much as it did in the 14th century when it was on the front lines of the wars between Florence and Siena with its city walls still intact. Description:La Commenda is located in a quiet and secluded position in the Volpaia hamlet. This small, rural hamlet with its fortified walls dating from Medieval times, is one of the best remaining examples of its kind in Tuscany. It is located, just north of Radda in Chianti, in a beautiful position overlooking vineyards and olive groves. The wines produced on the estate of Volpaia are among the best in the Chianti Classico area, and the cellars certainly deserve a visit. Both the red and white wines, together with the olive oil, are marketed as Castello di Volpaia, and known worldwide. The farm also manages one of the restaurants of the village where is possible to taste the local cuisine. Cooking classes are also arranged, on request, by the local English-speaking office. La Commenda, is situated at a border of the hamlet, thus offering total privacy. The views from the garden and the pool on the surrounding countryside are absolutely breathtaking. The house has been restored in a traditional Tuscan style, thus granting quality and comfort. Each bedroom has its own bathroom. An out-door equipped terrace offers the perfect spot for relaxing and eating outside, enjoying the perfect feeling of a home in Tuscany. The swimming pool area is closed by a gate and is located on a lower level of the garden, reachable through a few steps.
