Description:As I am away regularly for longer periods of time, I will be renting out my apartment in Budapest. It is a 3 story walk-up situated in the 8th district in a magnificent and strange building initially built to serve as living quarters and community centre for the workers of the nearby Ganz Plant in 1908. The concept is based on the idea of Gemeindebauten Most tenant are older people or younger couples looking for relatively cheap housing. It is in the neighborhood called Tisztviselotelep (government officials` settlement), a tranquil neighborhood of tree-lined streets and houses built for government officials towards the end of the 19th century. Transportation connection is good: the subway station Nagyvarad ter (blue line) is a 5 minutes walk away, Blaha Lujza ter is 10 mintes by bus (bus stop in front of the house - though this bus takes you trough the rougher patches of the 8th district). The apartment has been recently renovated. It has a large room with very high ceiling (6 meters) and an extremely large window overlooking a park, a small bathroom (bathtub) and a small, but well-equipped kitchen. It also has a relatively large library (mostly of English and American fiction, for the unlikely case of you wanting to spend your time in Budapest reading books). Please mind: I think the whole neighborhood is extremely cool, just like the apt. building. Tisztviselotelep is a safe and pretty well-off, gentrified, middle class place, but it is relatively close to some of the roughest streets in the 8th district, which borders the other side of the park. I would recommend this apartment to younger people interested in the Budapest that is not listed in Lonely Planet. Safe guarded parking is available in the inner court of the building. Longer term rental could also be negotiated, eventually for less than the price based on daily rates. Please write first and I will confirm availability. UPDATE: I have been making renovations and moved the books and the sofa. Instead of the sofa, there are now two armchairs in the apartment. It will remain so till around christmastime, when I will move everything back.

Description:This newly built, beautiful apartment is in the very centre of Budapest at the pedestrian zone, beside the main sights in the historical downtown at Deak Ferenc ter (3 metro lines). St. Stephen Basilica, Andrassy Boulevard, Synagogue, Opera, Vaci and Fashion street, Vorosmarty ter are only a few steps, River Danube and Chainbridge 5 minutes and all of the other main sights are easily accessible. It is the best place to start exploring the city. Many restaurants, cafes and bars are within a short walk. The area is also safe at night. Although it is downtown the apartment is silent, because the building is located in a reduced traffic street and the windows look onto inner courtyard.
