Description:Karina is a striking and fully updated 19th Century Liberty-style villa that benefits from a particularly beautiful setting. This luxury accommodation overlooking Lake Como can accommodate up to 6 people. nKarina rents from SATURDAY to SATURDAY. nThe location is a short distance from the famous Villa de28099Este hotel and George Clooneye28099s lakeside villa. Karina is a 5 minute walk from the lake shore and the closest village is also within easy walking distance. In the village there is an ancient boatyard as well as restaurants, cafc3a9/bars and food shops offering local products. The town of Como is 12 km from Karina and can be reached by car in about 10 minutes. You can also go by ferry or bus. The historic city centre is surrounded by old medieval walls and here you can enjoy the ancient monuments, fashionable shops and lakeside restaurants and cafc3a9s. Como also has the closest train station and Milan by train takes less than one hour. nBy car you can explore Switzerland and the border town of Lugano is approximately 40 minutes away. Also just across the border is Foxtown, a designer outlet village with Prada, Dolce and Gabbana, Gucci and Ferragamo outlets. nKarina measures approximately 285 square meters in size and comprises the raised ground floor and the garden level (lower-ground floor) of the villa. The top floor of the villa has two apartments that are not permanently inhabited. They owners may stay there on an occasional basis and have an independent and separate entrance from the back of the villa. The expansive grounds that run in front of the villa are for the sole and private use of our guests. nAs you enter the villa grounds, you pass the 4 person hot tub, set in a corner of the well maintained garden where you can relax overlooking the attractive blue waters of Lake Como. Impressive stone steps lead up to the 70 sq meter terrace, which runs along the entire front of the villa. The terrace has vaulted ceilings and terrific lake views. The large dining table offers ample opportunity for enjoyable outdoor dining. nThe main floor of Karina is air conditioned and you enter it from the terrace through large French doors. Here you find the office/library, which was once the original entrance hall. The office is well equipped with a television, laptop, printer and Skype telephone. The villa also has wireless (WIFI) Internet. nTurning left in the marble hallway, you come to the large living and dining room. This room is elegant in design and inviting with its overstuffed sofas and armchairs. The windows run the full length of the room offering nice light and beautiful views of the lake and surrounding mountains. There is direct access to the terrace from this room which also has wood floors with underfloor heating, Venetian stucco walls, Murano chandeliers and air conditioning. nThere is also a large flat screen TV with satellite channels and a Bose surround sound audio system with speakers. The formal circular glass dining table can comfortably seat up to eight people. nThe kitchen is located off of the living/dining room and is a well equipped designer kitchen. It features granite counter tops, newly updated appliances, a double oven, stove, microwave, dishwasher, and refrigerator with freezer. There is also a table for less formal dining. nBack along the hallway on the opposite side of the main entrance is the master bedroom suite. It has access to the garden through two French doors and is stylish with a queen designer bed, armchair and ottoman, silk tapestries and hand painted ceilings. Next to the master suite are two full-sized bathrooms. One is masculine and contemporary with a Teuco power shower and the other more feminine and refined with a Teuco ultrasonic Jacuzzi tub. nThe lower ground garden level is reached externally with access from the garden. This level is comfortable and nicely appointed but more modest than the main floor. It does not have air conditioning. The garden level has a pleasant twin bedded room (beds cannot be joined) that has access to the terrace. This room has a modern feel yet is still in keeping with the classical surroundings. There is a bathroom with shower located next to this room. nDown the hall is a fitness room with large plasma TV. The room is private and can accommodate two additional guests on a double sofa bed. Next to the fitness room is a well equipped laundry room with washing machine, dryer, iron and ironing board. nThe garden and grounds are comprised of established Mediterranean trees and plants and flowers that thrive in the local micro climate. There are shady areas with tables, chairs and loungers. nDue to the high quality of furnishings throughout the villa, children between 1 and 12 are admitted only upon request. Please inquire. nBecause the garden level floor of Karina is more modest in quality and scope, the villa works best for one couple or a family with teenage/young adult children. nKarina is a non smoking villa. It is possible to park two cars in an open area on the gated villa grounds. Description:THE DESIGN This 37-story rental apartment building, is in one of the city’s most spectacular, glamorous and legendary apartment buildings.Its entrance is pretty impressive as the slab tower is set back on the site close to 53rd Street and is approached through a lushly landscaped garden path from 52nd Street that on its own would be intimidating and gracious.The brown-brick building was erected in 1975 and abounds in bay windows that give its façade considerable rhythm as well as excellent views.This building includes a doorman and a concierge, a garage, a bicycle room, valet service and video security.This is a fairly quiet street, and there are many restaurants in the neighborhood. There are two parks not far away on Sutton Place to the north and of course, the larger park to the south at the United Nations. Each villa has its own entrance, private gated parking, garden and terrace for eating al fresco. Each of the luxury self catering villas has three bedrooms and two shower-rooms. On arrival, you will find a bottle of local Italian wine on the table – and if you send us a shopping list in advance, we will ensure you have fresh, locally sourced food for your first Italian meal. You can reach the village of Campomarino di Maruggio by flying to either Bari (Palese) or Brindisi (Papola Casale) Airports with less than a 1.5hrs drive. The region of Puglia has 800km of stunning coastline, covering the entire heel of south of Italy. With the beach just around the corner, go-karting, snorkelling and horse-riding – not to mention all those gelaterias – there is something for the whole group.Puglia is the ‘heel of Italy’ – the long peninsula in the south of the country that juts out into the Adriatic and Mediterranean Seas. The region is particularly popular in the summer months of July and August, when temperatures reach 30*C and above. In the quieter months of May, June, September and October, temperatures range between 20-25*C. Famed for its culinary produce – from olive oil to wine and from raw fish to 200 types of pasta – Puglia is known as the garden of Italy. PHARMACY: There is a local pharmacy a ten-minute walk from the villas and another in Maruggio, a slightly longer walk away or accessible by car. BARS AND GELATERIA: There are a few bars within walking distance from the villas – try ‘Il planet’ for excellent cocktails.A ten-minute stroll away from the villas is the beach bar Frutteria Annibale –perfect for a fresh fruit platter, an afternoon drink or a casual evening out. Combining a bar with an ice-cream parlour is a uniquely Italian concept: Panna e Cioccolato , La Meringa and Sandrino are all within walking distance of the villas. Our favourite bar gelateria is Panna e Cioccolato, especially for its ‘aperitivo’: try the refreshing combination of Aperol (a light version of Campari) and cedrata (made from a local citrus fruit called etrog). RESTAURANTS: For a light meal, head to a ‘rosticcerie’. Il Bomber and Rosticceria Longo sell ‘panzerotto’ (pastries filled with tasty tomato sauce and mozzarella) and ‘focaccia’ (delicious local bread topped with onions, olive oil, capers and black olives) and are just a few minutes’ walk from the villas.Le Piccole Ore is a family friendy restaurant favoured by locals. It offers an outside terrace or inside tables and serves traditional Italian fare.La Siesta is a family-run restaurant is known for its delicious traditional food and amazing wood-fired pizza oven in the heart of Sava, about 10km inland from Campomarino.Two of our favourite beachfront restaurants are situated between Campomarino and Torre Oveo. Both Elisir and Posto 9 (10-minutes drive) are relaxing family-friendly, and offer a variety of delicious dishes, from pizza to seafood.Surrounded by acres of olive groves and countryside, the “La 'nchianata Pub can offers delicious local food and a fantastic atmosphere. The restaurant is just a short drive towards Torre Ovo, following signs to Torricella. ACTIVITIES:Wine Tour - Cantine di San Marzano is one of the most modern wine production facilities in the south. The tour of the winery includes tasting, a visit to one of the more ancient vineyards and a potted history of the wine production in the area. During the ‘Cantine Aperte’ event, this winery opens the door over few days during which guided tours, tasting of wines, cultural events, music performances and dance. Diving - The Mare del Sud Diving Centre is 10 min walk from the villas, inside the Campomarino seaport. They organise dives at nearby San Pietro in Bevagna, where you can swim around the 22 white marble sarcophagi dating from AD150-300. Another interesting diving point is the Chidro river, a natural oasis of rare beauty. And to end the experience, they offer you a snack of ‘taralli’ (a pretzel-shaped breadstick) with a glass of wine. Snorkelling / diving: Only 50m off the sandy beach between Casalbate and San Cataldo is an incredible wreck, sunk by the Royal Navy in 1941. You can actually swim from room to room inside it. The turnoff is just beyond Torre Rinalda if you are heading towards San Cataldo. Go-karting - There are two go-karting tracks nearby: one between Torricella and Sava and another at nearby Maruggio, no more than a 15-mis drive. Mini golf - There is a mini-golf course a few minutes’ walk from the villas.
