Neighborhood cultural destinations such as the famed St. Augustine Church, the Mardi Gras Indian Backstreet Museum, Armstrong Park and the New Orleans African American Museum of Art are within strolling distance. The French Quarter, Jackson Square, Cabildo, Cafe Du Monde, Frenchmen Street's jazz clubs, bars and restaurants are a short walk away. Treme is centrally-located and nearby attractions such as the New Orleans Museum of Art in City Park, the hip Bywater and Marigny neighborhoods, and Downtown New Orleans' Arts Warehouse District, Superdome and casinos are easily accessible by car and bike. Public transportation is available, there are 2 bus stations within a few blocks, one on Esplanade Ave the other on Broad Ave connecting to the French Quarter and the street cars. Beds: 2 Full-size beds, 1 fold-out couch Kitchen: Microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker. 2-plate counter top stove, no oven! Pots and pans etc. Air-conditioners in both rooms and kitchen. Ceiling fan in the Master Bedroom. Gas heater in the 2nd room, also space-heaters if necessary. I live in the back of the house, accessed through side entrance. The connecting door between the front and back of house is locked from both sides for complete privacy. Since I live all the way in the back of the house and the bedrooms of the rental are in the front of the house there is no need to worry about noise, music etc. My pets roam in the yard and back apartment so if you decide to open the side door to the yard... expect some dog kisses. They are friendly but an introduction to get to know them would be good if you like to spend time outside. Description:WALK TO THE FRENCH QUARTER!!! (please view map) This is a rewly renovated 2 bedroom house with super comfortable pillow-top mattresses in the king and queen bedrooms. There is also a pull-out sofa in the living room and a day bed for one in the front room. An air mattress or two can be inflated if need be. This is a shotgun house, so you do walk through each room to get to the bathroom at the back of the house. Bright and sunny eat-in kitchen with all the usual: full sized frig, gas stove, microwave, coffee maker. Save on a few meals by cooking and eating in some of the time. The key feature of this home is that it is on Frenchmen Street. 2 1/2 blocks across St. Claude. Those not familiar with the various neighborhoods of New Orleans, may not be comfortable in this section. It is, however, just several blocks from the best music venue in New Orleans. This fully furnished apartment includes a yard, and allows guests to readily access parade routes (in fact, it is on some Mardi Gras parade routes)! Location is great, being near Audubon park, Tulane and Loyola Universities, the famous Camellia's Grill, Magazine Street, the Garden District and just a streetcar ride away to the French Quarter! In addition to being near the streetcar, we are also within walking distance to the taxi line! Review from February 2012: Great location and even better landlord - Simone was the most up beat and friendly renter I've encountered. She was there waiting for us, on time, just as we had arranged. She had a welcome packet with resturants, things to do, and even walked us to see where the Street Car, buses, and taxi's picked up. - The home was in great shape, comfortable beds, and a cozy, welcome home feel. The kitchen was fully stocked with spices, coffee maker, and all the dishes you'd need. - The location to the French Quarter is perfect, a 20 minute bus ride, a 20 dollar taxi ride, or a 15 minute street car ride. We didn't have to drive our entire stay. - The neighborhood was very quiet, relaxed, and beautiful to sit on the porch and drink some wine. - I would refer this house to anyone going to New Orleans for a stay. - The only downfall was we took our Wii to play, but there weren't any tv's in the rental. As the fist renters, it wasn't a big deal, just a suggestion for the future. (As a note from lessor, there is now a TV in the house!)
