Description:Come see what all the buzz is about in the artsy/bohemian neighborhood of the Marigny/Bywater! Tons of great restaurants, cafes, and bars all within walking distance. A true taste of REAL New Orleans! Stay in our spacious beautifully furnished Bywater 150 year old Creole Cottage. Very charming! 12 foot ceilings, hardwood floors etc. Living room has a futon that converts to a large single bed. Bedroom has a comfy, queen sized bed, full kitchen and full bath. Wireless Internet. Our home is right next door so if you need anything let us know! On street parking with a lovely park right across the street! On peak season rentals (Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest etc.), we prefer a four night minimum. Easy 15 minute walk to all the music and clubs on Frenchman Street. 20 minute walk to French Quarter. 2 minute walk to numerous coffee shops, restaurants, bars, 24-hour grocery store, etc. Also right around the corner from the always entertaining Country Club - a restaurant/bar with a POOL! There is also a laundry mat in walking distance. There is a bus line right on our corner. It's an easy walk/bike ride to almost everything that we never even use the bus. But it's there if you like. * If you look at the street view, that is not what the street looks like anymore! That was taken just after Katrina *

Description:Perfect location to experience the joie de vivre of New Orleans. Historic Esplanade Avenue is lined with oaks tree and many original 19th century mansions, and it once functioned as a millionaire's row for the Louisiana Creole section of the city, similarly as uptown's St. Charles Avenue was to the Americans. Esplanade is also the dividing line between the French Quarter and the Faubourg Marigny, two of the best and most historic neighborhoods in the city! It's also a very quick route to the Tremé, the Fairgrounds, City Park and the New Orleans Museum of Art. The apartment is on the ground floor (street entrance) of a townhouse built in 1830, complete with stained glass, exquisite woodwork, 15 ft ceilings, 6 gigantic windows and two fireplaces. It's a very large one bedroom with giant sliding pocket doors that can open the space up. There is a full size bed in the bedroom and a medium size sofa in the living room. It's fairly new and from Ikea, and while not ideal to sleep on because of the size, it has been done before. The apartment is furnished with a combo of antique and modern art and furniture and high speed internet and wifi, a full kitchen (although, no one ever uses it except to store leftovers :), and full bathroom. The apartment gets the most amazing light in both rooms and is incredibly beautiful, but I would still say that the best thing about the place is the location. You are in the heart of it all, just steps away from both the Vieux Carré and Frenchmen Street, next door to the giant Claiborne Mansion and nearly across the street from the best burger in the city (Port of Call). If you are looking for jazz, history, art, coffee, food and libations, but are also still wanting to relax and have a little peace and quiet, and that N'awlins je ne sais quoi, you will love it here! I was born, raised and went to college in New Orleans, and now have a job that keeps me bouncing all around the world, but New Orleans is still my favorite city. I am happy to give you suggestions based on your interests, just let me know.... laissez les bons temps rouler! NOTES: RATES MAY INCREASE DURING SPECIAL SEASONS LIKE CARNIVAL

And take the tour on youtube: just search for Mackenzie House New Orleans Updated Fall 2011 I had a summer sublet from hell so I'm a little gun shy about this rental season, but here goes. Please, please watch the video and read the following before you inquire about booking. The house is in an urban neighborhood. I have added pictures of the street. If you want to stay at the Ritz or in a gated community, please do so. This is New Orleans and it is in the process of being re-built. I have never had any safety issues on my street, but this is a city. And like any city there is traffic, diversity and homelessness. If you are not ok with seeing any of those things, then please look for a hotel. My house is a project house. My boyfriend and I are fixing it up as we can but it's no where near being perfect. The floors need to be refinished and the paint is not great. The bathroom is a hot mess of spray insulation. There is a washer but no dryer. There is cable but it's basic. That said, everything works. You can cook and watch tv and DVDs and sit in the overgrown backyard until your heart's content. My intention is not to be abrupt. I love my house. It has charm and it is an authentic New Orleans experience. I just don't want anyone to think this is a luxury rental. Thanks for reading. Wherever you stay I hope you have a wonderful time in the Big Easy.

Unique shotgun house, open-style free-standing home that I've renovated and carefully developed over the past several decades. The house is close to the French Quarter and Marigny, but feels like your own private paradise. Extensive garden which gives one the feeling of the country while being in the heart of the neighborhood. Enjoy the screened porch for morning coffee or afternoon cocktails, hear the birds and the occasional boat off the river a block away, church bells tell the time and you can leave it all behind. Amenities include full kitchen, securely locked doors, wireless internet, spacious garden with outdoor sitting area, easy parking on a quiet street, all linens and cleaning service provided twice weekly, tv but no cable, laundry facilities on premises. The great room is a multipurpose with dining area and antique double bed (considered one of the bedrooms with attached 1/2 bath). Master bedroom has a queen size bed with full bathroom. The erotic nature of some of the art makes the house geared towards adults only. Come and enjoy one of the most vital neighborhoods in the city, where classic architecture meets hipster chic all mixed with a healthy dose of fun. An easy cab or bike ride to the French Quarter or Frenchman St. ( the locals music Mecca). Walking is approx. 15 min. and a great experience on a nice day. Just steps from the front door you can be at a multitude of coffee shops, bookstores, yoga studios, restaurants, bars, and music venues with a few galleries and theaters thrown in. Clothing optional swimming, sauna and hot tub are only a block away with day passes at seasonal prices.

Description:This Marigny shot-gun is sure to charm you. It's a 1-BR garden apartment, plus a comfy futon in the living room, and sleeps 4 people. It also has a full kitchen and bathroom with tub. Free curb-side parking is also available. The entire space is filled with unique and colorful memorabilia from New Orleans and from my travels around the world. You are located in the historic Marigny neighborhood, founded in the early 19th century and filled with quaint and colorful Creole-style cottages. You are also a short walk from the French Quarter and the music of Frenchmen Street, two of New Orleans' best tourist attractions. The Marigny itself is filled with cool local bars and coffee shops, all a few blocks from the apartment. But enough from me, here's a note from a past guest: Mary - Thanks so much for letting us stay in your great apartment. We had so much fun!... wonderful neighborhood! (January, 2012)
