Description:Airy, bright, lovely 1 bed1/ba apartment in the heart of the Marigny, on the safer (river) side of St. Claude. Just two blocks from Mardi Gras Zone (local grocery), Lost Love Lounge and Marie's (two bars), three blocks from Flora's Cafe and Mimi's, and 3.5 blocks to the new cooperative grocery store. This part of town is known for its artists, musicians, youth, racial diversity, gay friendliness, and local character. Most of it did not flood during Katrina, but there's quite a few wind damaged and blighted properties none the less. High ceilings, ceiling fans, windows glazed for privacy from street, central heat/ac, hardwood floors in the living room, and new carpet in the bedroom. There's a high end King size bed, full bath, 46 TV and WIFI. The living room is separated from the kitchen by a long bar with three bar stools. There's a fridge, microwave, toaster, and electric stove/oven. Downsides: the paint and tile floor in kitchen are not perfect, but also not bad for New Orleans (things can be a little rough around the edges here!), and overall it's a very comfortable, well located place! Neighbors are typically quiet during sleeping hours, except on rare party occasions. Unlike many places near here, this is not a shotgun apartment (with roommates walking through your bedroom to theirs)! It can be difficult to find an entire one bedroom apartment to yourself in this part of town.

Description:Welcome to your New Orleans home. Here's your chance to live and play where the locals do -- in grand and funky style! Just four short blocks to the French Quarter (and only three to Frenchmen Street -- where most of the best music venues in town are), this amazing and unique apartment is ideally located. Also within walking distance are several coffee shops (the closest is less than a half block away), a full service grocery store, and too many restaurants and nightclubs to mention. Also, Washington Square Park is only two and a half blocks away, which includes a swing set and jungle gym for the kids. About the Marigny: The Faubourg Marigny is easily (in our humble opinion) the most desirable neighborhood in all of downtown New Orleans. Travel back in time to a place where history comes alive right outside your front door, where European roots are always evident, and many of the homes are over a century old. A walk through the Marigny gives one the sensation of strolling through a picture postcard of a bygone era. The neighbors here are happy (who wouldn't be in such a wonderful place?) and always offer you a warm hello as you pass. It is a peaceful place, but very close to some of the most wonderful noise on the planet. And if you are a fan of the HBO series Treme, you will be pleased to know that the infamously quirky Krewe du Vieux parade passes our block twice! About the apartment: Nestled away from the street in the most convenient, beautiful and safest part of the Marigny, the accommodations are ideally located. The apartment is a spacious 1000 square feet, featuring a large living room, full kitchen with many amenities, two huge bedrooms, and one full bathroom. The rooms are furnished with antiques and interesting artifacts, including one-of-a-kind pieces of furniture created by local artisans. (Note: This apartment also functions as a living gallery, so most of the artisan furniture and wall hangings are available for purchase if you would like the ultimate souvenir -- just ask for pricing!) We also offer off street parking -- a rare and much coveted feature during those peak times of the year when street parking can be so difficult (some say impossible) to find! Satellite TV and free wi-fi are also included. A brief tour of the apartment: After pulling into our small parking lot, you will see that the house is set back from the street, for added security and privacy. You will notice that there is no door facing the street -- one must enter through the security gate to even see the first entrance to the house. Once through the gate, your apartment is the first door on the left. There is a little smoking area outside the front door (smoking is not allowed inside the apartment), where you will notice an antique door has been converted into a comfy bench by a local artist. Once through the front door, the visual impact of this beautiful place will first hit you. To the left you will see a large desk with interestingly stocked bookshelves where you can set up your office away from home if you like (free wi-fi included). The photography and artwork on the walls is all created by local artists. Even the coffee table is an original work of art. There is a day bed with trundle (sleeps two) and a futon that folds out into a sleeper (also sleeps two) at the center of the living room, near the hi-definition flat screen TV. To the right you will see our very large kitchen, the visual center piece of which is a dining table fashioned by a local artist from another antique door and beautifully finished with vintage roof slates for a lovely mosaic effect (these slates were actually blown off the house you are staying in during Hurricane Katrina). You will note a washer/dryer poised dutifully in the corner (no trips to the Laundromat!), a refrigerator, electric oven and stove, and lots of counter and cabinet space -- much of which is filled with dishes, silverware and cooking utensils. After visiting the living room and kitchen in the front area, you will walk into a hallway. Hallways themselves are something of a rarity in these older neighborhoods -- shotgun homes and creole cottages tend to be designed without halls, therefore forcing one to walk through one room to get to the next -- but there are no such privacy concerns here! Immediately to the left is the master bedroom. This room is the jewel of the apartment. Spacious and beautiful, it features antique furniture and a queen-sized bed. It is really difficult to describe the magnificence of this room, so please have a look at the two photos of it in this ad to get a better idea! Returning to the hallway, the next room is the bathroom, with a full shower/bathtub. The bathroom is charmingly decorated in the theme of a turn-of-the-century Storyville boudoir. At the end of the hall is the second bedroom, which features a queen-sized bed (sleeps two) and a day bed with trundle (also sleeps two). The furniture in this room is mostly the work of local artists as well, and the overall theme of the space is in homage to the Vodou religion that is still practiced in New Orleans. The walls have been painted various shades of purple, and Veves (symbolic images of the Vodou faith) have been painted on the walls as a blessing for all those who stay here. The landlords (who happen to be artists/writers/musicans themselves) live on the premises in an adjacent apartment and are always ready to answer your questions or lend a hand. These accommodations are child friendly, but small children may not be left alone in the apartment (babysitting services may be worked out in advance, depending on availability). Please email us to receive a copy of our detailed policies regarding refunds, cancellations, deposits, tenant rules, etc. You will need to agree to our policies prior to booking. We look forward to becoming your New Orleans home away from home!

Description:We offering up a true New Orleans experience. Our 150 year old home has a Mother In-Law cottage in the rear garden. This charming 350sq foot cottage has your transported back in time. With beautiful french doors and period furniture, you feel the history of New Orleans. We are in a quiet corner of the ever growing Bywater, with steps away to the famous Vuaghan's Bar, where Kermit Ruffins does his weekly throw down every Thursday night, great southern authentic BBQ at the Joint, great old world style and jazz at Bacchanal Fine Wine & Spirits and we are adjacent to the Marigny neighborhood which is home to Frenchman street, where all great New Orleans musicians play. I am committed to showing you the authentic New Orleans and therefore encourage you to grab a few of the bikes I have to offer and hit the road rolling, the best way to see the most beautiful city in America. I am happy to provide a great simple map with bike routes to little hidden gem around town. (note that the one rental bike shop in town- Bicycle Michael's on Frenchman- charges $35 dollars a day to rent a bike!!) The house is a 5 min car drive or a 15 min bike ride to the French Quarter (never worry about parking and feel free to have a few drinks while out and about). There is also a direct bus line steps from our home which can get you to many places around town. The bus lines are the 88 St Claude route and the 5 Bus that travels from our place, through the Bywater, the French Quarter and ends at the Convention Center. We provide bus schedules so you can time your travels. A cab ride to the quarter is anywhere from 12-15 bucks. (I do NOT suggest taking the bus at night) For those not on vacation, this place is perfect for short term rental while looking for a place to long term home to rent of buy. Also for film crew members and students here for projects. We are happy to work out a reduced rate for 1-4 week rentals. The cottage has a beautiful rustic bathroom and small basic kitchenette. (small oven, kettle, microwave, fridge, freezer) A comfortable queen size bed with high end towels and linens provided. We have laundry facilities in our main house that can be used. We have wifi on the property as well. Feel free to drop us a line if you have any more questions. -Leesaw PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING 1- we are located off the beaten path. 3 miles from the French Quarter and 5 miles (8km) from the Garden District. To the Quarter that means it is a very long walk (45 mins which you stroll and check out all the great old houses in our area) , easy 15 min bike ride, 5 min by taxi or car) 2- Weather- It is chilly from Dec-Feb and hot! from June-September, so biking during these months is not recommended for faint at heart. However biking during the early morning and at night in the summer is very sweet. Biking during the afternoon in the winter months is nice too. 3- our space is not recommended for the elderly or kids 4- the public transit is slow in New Orleans. we provide bus maps/schedules (88 st claude bus brings you right to the quarter) but we do not recommend taking the bus at night. It is a 12-15 dollar cab right to or from the quarter and we can happily provide you with numbers for taxi companies 5- safety- New Orleans does not have a long standing rep as being a safe city. However i have heard about many more muggings in the Quarter than anything happening in our neighborhood. None the less, we recommend biking in pairs during the late night hours 6- who i think is most suited for the space- urban savvy folks who like my self want to be outside the tourist traps and are traveling on a budget. We suggest those with a car OR those planning on renting a car OR those willing to be bike adventurers. The buses do not go everywhere and things are so spread out to walk. If you are thinking of taking cabs back and forth from the quarter or festivals (therefore not biking or using a car ) then you might as well book something which is closer to the quarter and spend the money you would on cabs on an expensive room. (you are looking at $100 and up a night- $150 and up in the quarter) This space is also great for those here for a conference and need budget accommodation or here for a project and need a reasonable priced place to stay for a few weeks or a month. 7- Renting a car in the summer or if you are just not that into bikes- it cost about $35 to a get a cab from the airport to the Quarter- $40 from the airport to our cottage. Same price for the return trip. To rent a car for the weekend it is about $70 (less than the round trip in cabs to the airport)if you book on Hotwire or PriceLine name your own price and in advance. So if you are coming for a weekend visit we recommend renting a car. THis way you can hit all things great about this city. The Garden District Uptown, City Park area, check out the Lower 9th Ward and see how the rebuilding it going, Audubon Park and Zoo etc. We will happily share with you are favorite places all over the city. drop a line if you have any additional questions

Description:Large, clean, well-furnished studio with separate entrance. This is a converted garage that is attached to our house by a door we never open. The studio has its own separate entrance. We do not live in it when it's not being rented out, meaning it's clean and fresh and doesn't have that lived in feel. We recently furnished it so everything is new new new. The apartment itself is big and has a fireplace, built-in bookshelves, spanish tile floor, and soaring ceilings. It is air-conditioned and has a ceiling fan. It features a small but well-equipped kitchen (stove, oven, small fridge) and a small bathroom. A 20-minute walk or 5-minute drive to Tulane and Lovola Universities, our location is perfect for parents visiting their college kids. This area is particularly lacking in hotels so offers a great opportunity for those who don't want the headache of staying downtown. We are in a lovely, shaded residential area. The apartment is two blocks from the Carrolton streetcar, two blocks from Palmer Park which features a popular art market once a month, and three blocks from a grocery store and Walgreens. You are also three blocks from the popular Panola Cafe. Please be advised that the price during Mardi Gras and Jazzfest is $200/night. For stays longer than a week, we can arrange a 'laundry day' where you can use our washer/dryer once a week at no extra cost. Additionally, we have housekeepers who come to clean every two weeks.

Description:Come rent our wonderful house for the first weekend of Jazz Fest! The house is a two-story, three bedroom apartment with the bedrooms and a full bath all upstairs. Downstairs there are two living rooms (with two large couches), a huge kitchen with a gas stove, oven and dishwasher, a small room off the kitchen to house the washer and dryer, plus a second full bath. There's a small front yard and a porch with a swinging bench and there are a ton of windows so the place gets really great light all day. There is also a driveway that can fit two cars, which is great because parking becomes impossible around JazzFest season! Each bedroom upstairs has a queen size bed so you can realistically sleep 6 people in those beds, but we're open to having a larger group stay in the house. It's very spacious downstairs, and with the two couches and a queen size air mattress you'll have more than enough room for anyone in your crew. When you stay at our house, you'll be two blocks from a supermarket, a block away from a coffee shop and about a 10 minute walk from the festival! Mid city is perfectly situated between all the major neighborhoods in New Orleans so after the fest you can quickly come back and get ready to go out to for dinner and/or the late night shows that happen all around town. The streetcar line is also only a block away, and it's a lovely ride down to the French Quarter or down picturesque St. Charles Avenue in Uptown. City Park and the New Orleans Museum of Art are also just a few minutes away. We are happy to stock the house with whatever you'll need during your stay - just give us a heads up!
