The house has wireless internet, an extraordinary, knowledgeable host, and a charming porch where you can enjoy breakfast/ watching neighbors walk their dogs in a neighborhood which probably has the nation's highest per capita concentration of pet owners! The house is very quiet and the owner is trying to get into medical school, so he can definitely use the extra income. I know you'll have a great stay here and in case you were wondering yes, that is a giant metal pelican eating a fish that you see in the background in the hallway!

Description:Brand new, barely lived in loft apartment. High ceilings, 1050 square feet with a mezzanine: includes open kitchen common area, separate rooms for laundry and bathroom, walk-in closet, and bedroom. The apartment building is located right on the Mississippi River and has a lovely roof area with nice views of the city. There's also a pool/orange grove/grill area that opens this week. The building is fun and unique residents are largely the creative and entrepreneurial type. Amenities also include free newspapers, wireless internet, free dry-cleaning pickup and delivery, and tight security. Off-street parking is easily available parking in the private parking lot is an additional fee (charged by the building). A restaurant will open up in the building in the next couple of months, too, and they will offer room service to the apartments. The apartment is right on the border of the Bywater and Marigny neighborhoods. You’ll be in walking distance to many yummy restaurants, art galleries, a food co-op, bars, yoga, and Frenchmen Street. The beginning of the French Quarter is 4/5ths of a mile away. Between your feet and your fingertips you should have everything you want -- All the basics you might need - detergents, towels, sheets, blankets, coffee, tea, cream, eggs, oatmeal, milk, etc. - will be provided. Hollygrove Market and Farm will deliver a box of in-season, locally grown fruits and vegetables ($28), fresh eggs, and/or milk twice weekly if you’re interested, too. I'll provide a list and map with all this info, recommendations, etc. Now more about my loft! - It has nice new appliances. The kitchen has standard appliances plus a juicer (if you don't already have one, you're going to want to get one after using mine)! The rest of the common area features a trundle daybed (with two twin size Temper-Pedic beds), large desk, all-in-one wireless printer, dining cabinet, two tables – one I use as a dining table, the other for my art/creative stuff among a few other items. The bathroom has a large walk-in shower with great water pressure. Each apartment has its own hot water heater so hot water never runs out. The large walk-in closet and bedroom are located upstairs. The queen size bed in the bedroom is very comfortable! Because I recently moved in, the place may look a little different when you arrive than from the pictures... I plan on doing some decorating and maybe rearranging some furniture. Any which way, it'll be nice :)

Description:Stay close to the action but still get a quiet night's rest. We have a shotgun home which we rent half of. We live in one side and rent the other. The apartment has complete privacy, has it's own entrance and is gated out front. The bedrooms are situated on either side of the living room and kitchen area and have their own doors. Each bedroom has two double beds with 450 tc linens and duvets. There are many extra clean pillows and blankets. There is a complete kitchen with full sized appliances, coffeemaker, toaster, blender and microwave. It is also stocked with dishes and cookware. There is cable tv with an xbox for playing games or watching dvds. There is no internet service at the house but there are many cafes with free wifi surrounding us. The bathroom has a clawfoot tub and shower with a comfortable amount of space and height in it. We custom made the shower to be sure of it. We stock plenty of towels and washcloths. We take great pride in our home and are constantly making improvements. We like to keep things very clean and like to be as accommodating as possible. Just ask! We love enjoying our city and love to help other people enjoy it too. We have no children living with us and we do have a sweetheart of an old deaf dog. She stays on our side of the property whenever we have guests and she never makes a sound. We do not allow her into the apartment. Smoking outside too please. Our home is located in the Bywater neighborhood which is situated just 11 blocks (.8 mi/ 1.2km) down river from the French Quarter. It is a very nice walk through the lovely Marigny and even a quicker bicycle ride or taxi ride. There is one off-street parking space and always plenty of room on the street. Our little bohemian neighborhood is packed full of colorful homes, coffee shops, artist's galleries, bars and restaurants. My property has been recently renovated and includes a brand new contemporary bathroom, kitchen and dark hardwood floors throughout. The kitchen comes fully stocked with plate, glass and silverware, along with granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances. In the kitchen you will find the washer and dryer. The one bathroom includes his and her sinks, large jacuzzi tub, toilette and dual shower heads, towels, and plenty of space for your toiletries. The bathroom is connected to the master bedroom and can also be accessed by the hallway. The master bedroom comes with a large wood dresser, queen size bed and lots of closest space (hangers included). The second bedroom is used as an office currently and does include a small pull out sofa (most comfortable for one person) and closet. In the living room enjoy a comfortable couch, love seat, large flat screen TV (with cable and DVR), DVD player, an assortment of DVDs and Wi-Fi. The dining room includes dinning room table, seating for at least six people: four upholstered chairs and bench. directly outside the dining room is the large backyard with patio table, chairs and BBQ pit! You have off street parking directly in front of the house. Otherwise there is plenty of room for free parking on the street. There are coffee shops and restaurants nearby. The house is located 1 mile from St. Charles Ave and the street car and is centrally located to easily access downtown and other parts of Uptown New Orleans in minutes. Description:We offering up a true New Orleans experience. Our 150 year old home has a Mother In-Law cottage in the rear garden. This charming 350sq foot cottage has your transported back in time. With beautiful french doors and period furniture, you feel the history of New Orleans. We are in a quiet corner of the ever growing Bywater, with steps away to the famous Vuaghan's Bar, where Kermit Ruffins does his weekly throw down every Thursday night, great southern authentic BBQ at the Joint, great old world style and jazz at Bacchanal Fine Wine & Spirits and we are adjacent to the Marigny neighborhood which is home to Frenchman street, where all great New Orleans musicians play. I am committed to showing you the authentic New Orleans and therefore encourage you to grab a few of the bikes I have to offer and hit the road rolling, the best way to see the most beautiful city in America. I am happy to provide a great simple map with bike routes to little hidden gem around town. (note that the one rental bike shop in town- Bicycle Michael's on Frenchman- charges $35 dollars a day to rent a bike!!) The house is a 5 min car drive or a 15 min bike ride to the French Quarter (never worry about parking and feel free to have a few drinks while out and about). There is also a direct bus line steps from our home which can get you to many places around town. The bus lines are the 88 St Claude route and the 5 Bus that travels from our place, through the Bywater, the French Quarter and ends at the Convention Center. We provide bus schedules so you can time your travels. A cab ride to the quarter is anywhere from 12-15 bucks. (I do NOT suggest taking the bus at night) For those not on vacation, this place is perfect for short term rental while looking for a place to long term home to rent of buy. Also for film crew members and students here for projects. We are happy to work out a reduced rate for 1-4 week rentals. The cottage has a beautiful rustic bathroom and small basic kitchenette. (small oven, kettle, microwave, fridge, freezer) A comfortable queen size bed with high end towels and linens provided. We have laundry facilities in our main house that can be used. We have wifi on the property as well. Feel free to drop us a line if you have any more questions. -Leesaw PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING 1- we are located off the beaten path. 3 miles from the French Quarter and 5 miles (8km) from the Garden District. To the Quarter that means it is a very long walk (45 mins which you stroll and check out all the great old houses in our area) , easy 15 min bike ride, 5 min by taxi or car) 2- Weather- It is chilly from Dec-Feb and hot! from June-September, so biking during these months is not recommended for faint at heart. However biking during the early morning and at night in the summer is very sweet. Biking during the afternoon in the winter months is nice too. 3- our space is not recommended for the elderly or kids 4- the public transit is slow in New Orleans. we provide bus maps/schedules (88 st claude bus brings you right to the quarter) but we do not recommend taking the bus at night. It is a 12-15 dollar cab right to or from the quarter and we can happily provide you with numbers for taxi companies 5- safety- New Orleans does not have a long standing rep as being a safe city. However i have heard about many more muggings in the Quarter than anything happening in our neighborhood. None the less, we recommend biking in pairs during the late night hours 6- who i think is most suited for the space- urban savvy folks who like my self want to be outside the tourist traps and are traveling on a budget. We suggest those with a car OR those planning on renting a car OR those willing to be bike adventurers. The buses do not go everywhere and things are so spread out to walk. If you are thinking of taking cabs back and forth from the quarter or festivals (therefore not biking or using a car ) then you might as well book something which is closer to the quarter and spend the money you would on cabs on an expensive room. (you are looking at $100 and up a night- $150 and up in the quarter) This space is also great for those here for a conference and need budget accommodation or here for a project and need a reasonable priced place to stay for a few weeks or a month. 7- Renting a car in the summer or if you are just not that into bikes- it cost about $35 to a get a cab from the airport to the Quarter- $40 from the airport to our cottage. Same price for the return trip. To rent a car for the weekend it is about $70 (less than the round trip in cabs to the airport)if you book on Hotwire or PriceLine name your own price and in advance. So if you are coming for a weekend visit we recommend renting a car. THis way you can hit all things great about this city. The Garden District Uptown, City Park area, check out the Lower 9th Ward and see how the rebuilding it going, Audubon Park and Zoo etc. We will happily share with you are favorite places all over the city. drop a line if you have any additional questions
