About the place: The main entrance to City Park is only 2 blocks away, the Canal Street Car is 5 blocks away, the fairgrounds a 10 minute walk and the french quarter is less than 10 minutes away by car. The house has wireless internet, an extraordinary, knowledgeable host, and a charming porch where you can enjoy breakfast/ watching neighbors walk their dogs in a neighborhood which probably has the nation's highest per capita concentration of pet owners! The house is very quiet and the owner is trying to get into medical school, so he can definitely use the extra income. I know you'll have a great stay here and in case you were wondering yes, that is a giant metal pelican eating a fish that you see in the background in the hallway!

It's a quick trip anywhere about 2 miles from the french quarter, 3 blocks from Magazine Street and just steps away from some of the most beautiful houses in the Garden District. The apartment is in a very safe and prime location, with many great restaurants and bars within walking distance. The apartment sleeps 4 comfortably. - 1 Full size bed - 1 Queen size sleeper sofa - 1 Bathroom - Large Kitchen - Outdoor Porch There is also a neighborhood grocery store 1 block away, so you're literally in walking distance to any and everything you need. Description:Perfect location to experience the joie de vivre of New Orleans. Historic Esplanade Avenue is lined with oaks tree and many original 19th century mansions, and it once functioned as a millionaire's row for the Louisiana Creole section of the city, similarly as uptown's St. Charles Avenue was to the Americans. Esplanade is also the dividing line between the French Quarter and the Faubourg Marigny, two of the best and most historic neighborhoods in the city! It's also a very quick route to the Tremé, the Fairgrounds, City Park and the New Orleans Museum of Art. The apartment is on the ground floor (street entrance) of a townhouse built in 1830, complete with stained glass, exquisite woodwork, 15 ft ceilings, 6 gigantic windows and two fireplaces. It's a very large one bedroom with giant sliding pocket doors that can open the space up. There is a full size bed in the bedroom and a medium size sofa in the living room. It's fairly new and from Ikea, and while not ideal to sleep on because of the size, it has been done before. The apartment is furnished with a combo of antique and modern art and furniture and high speed internet and wifi, a full kitchen (although, no one ever uses it except to store leftovers :), and full bathroom. The apartment gets the most amazing light in both rooms and is incredibly beautiful, but I would still say that the best thing about the place is the location. You are in the heart of it all, just steps away from both the Vieux Carré and Frenchmen Street, next door to the giant Claiborne Mansion and nearly across the street from the best burger in the city (Port of Call). If you are looking for jazz, history, art, coffee, food and libations, but are also still wanting to relax and have a little peace and quiet, and that N'awlins je ne sais quoi, you will love it here! I was born, raised and went to college in New Orleans, and now have a job that keeps me bouncing all around the world, but New Orleans is still my favorite city.
