The house has wireless internet, an extraordinary, knowledgeable host, and a charming porch where you can enjoy breakfast/ watching neighbors walk their dogs in a neighborhood which probably has the nation's highest per capita concentration of pet owners! The house is very quiet and the owner is trying to get into medical school, so he can definitely use the extra income. I know you'll have a great stay here and in case you were wondering yes, that is a giant metal pelican eating a fish that you see in the background in the hallway!

Please, please watch the video and read the following before you inquire about booking. The house is in an urban neighborhood. I have added pictures of the street. If you want to stay at the Ritz or in a gated community, please do so. This is New Orleans and it is in the process of being re-built. I have never had any safety issues on my street, but this is a city. And like any city there is traffic, diversity and homelessness. If you are not ok with seeing any of those things, then please look for a hotel. My house is a project house. My boyfriend and I are fixing it up as we can but it's no where near being perfect. The floors need to be refinished and the paint is not great. The bathroom is a hot mess of spray insulation. There is a washer but no dryer. There is cable but it's basic. That said, everything works. You can cook and watch tv and DVDs and sit in the overgrown backyard until your heart's content. My intention is not to be abrupt. I love my house. It has charm and it is an authentic New Orleans experience. I just don't want anyone to think this is a luxury rental. Thanks for reading. Public transportation is available, there are 2 bus stations within a few blocks, one on Esplanade Ave the other on Broad Ave connecting to the French Quarter and the street cars. Beds: 2 Full-size beds, 1 fold-out couch Kitchen: Microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker. 2-plate counter top stove, no oven! Pots and pans etc. Air-conditioners in both rooms and kitchen. Ceiling fan in the Master Bedroom. Gas heater in the 2nd room, also space-heaters if necessary. I live in the back of the house, accessed through side entrance. The connecting door between the front and back of house is locked from both sides for complete privacy. Since I live all the way in the back of the house and the bedrooms of the rental are in the front of the house there is no need to worry about noise, music etc. My pets roam in the yard and back apartment so if you decide to open the side door to the yard... expect some dog kisses. They are friendly but an introduction to get to know them would be good if you like to spend time outside. Special rates for extended stays available, I will send you the special rate upon request. 300$ per/wk, 900$ per month (except during special events) I am taking reservations about 2 or 3 months ahead, please check back frequently for further availability. Description:Airy, bright, lovely 1 bed1/ba apartment in the heart of the Marigny, on the safer (river) side of St. Claude. Just two blocks from Mardi Gras Zone (local grocery), Lost Love Lounge and Marie's (two bars), three blocks from Flora's Cafe and Mimi's, and 3.5 blocks to the new cooperative grocery store. This part of town is known for its artists, musicians, youth, racial diversity, gay friendliness, and local character. Most of it did not flood during Katrina, but there's quite a few wind damaged and blighted properties none the less. High ceilings, ceiling fans, windows glazed for privacy from street, central heat/ac, hardwood floors in the living room, and new carpet in the bedroom. There's a high end King size bed, full bath, 46 TV and WIFI. The living room is separated from the kitchen by a long bar with three bar stools. There's a fridge, microwave, toaster, and electric stove/oven. Downsides: the paint and tile floor in kitchen are not perfect, but also not bad for New Orleans (things can be a little rough around the edges here!), and overall it's a very comfortable, well located place! Neighbors are typically quiet during sleeping hours, except on rare party occasions. Unlike many places near here, this is not a shotgun apartment (with roommates walking through your bedroom to theirs)! It can be difficult to find an entire one bedroom apartment to yourself in this part of town.
